How to use Item Editor

Does anyone else smell bacon? cause i think i feel some flaming coming but,

Im a beginner and im trying to learn how to use the Item editor, if anyone can give a quick explanation how to get it goin that would be get. If not if your going to flame me just remember "NOT THE FACE"!

Unzip the program to where ever you want it.
Click File.
Goto Options.
If you followed one of the how-to's to set up your server You need to put in the following info

Database Name: eq
Database User: YourUsername
Database Pass: YourPassword
Database Location: localhost
EverQuest Directory: YourEQDirectory (default is C:\Program Files\EverQuest\ ~Or~ C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\
depending on weather or not you installed using the seperate discs or the Trilogy/whatnot)

make a tutorial for creating items cause mine sure ain't working and no one knows how to fix it

I can't get none of my items to work either, then again i can't get nothing to work. I try to edit a existed item and soon as I click another item it erases all the changes I made. So I try to edit a existed item then save it to the DB...once again it erases all the changes I made. Then I try to create a new item with a unused number (such as 11002) It says it created it, but when i browse down to edit item 11002 its not there.
