The people running the board have liberty to do whatever they want with it, all you can really do is not participate if you don't like what you see.
All rules should apply to all users/admins/devs IMO.

Big difference between flaming someone and insinuating someone go gash their wrists don't ya think? Matt has every right to be pissed if he's had to deal with that kind of shit before in RL. To see that kind of mentality coming from someone on the dev team does make one wonder though...

All this is just absurd. I can't understand how someone like Mattmeck who dedicates lots of time helping people, find solutions and spend time just to make people finding their way into that project could be flammed down by that same community.
You're speaking of maturity but almost none of you are able to make one step behind and read what they write before pressing the submit button. Its certainly not only a question of maturity, that's a total non sense. Someone write's a bad word because the sentence came like that when he wrote it, and its an open war... I can't believe that. Most of that shit is so pointless that people should laugh when they read it, instead of that, they keep answering, ban, provoke, insult or whatever...
I m not defending Mattmeck, RL and to much personnal opinions shouldn't appear on that kind of forum, only because it leads directly to what's happening. I m criticizing the lack of support from the devs here.

I feel really sad to read that Mattmeck leaves for such reasons. He did more for the community than most of the people here, me included, and with no possible comparison. Pathetic.

I also believe that there is a huge difference between being rude to someone , and making posts recommending suicide.. Maturity does not mean that you never get annoyed with someone, but it does mean that your response does have the temperance of common sense with it.

I dont think Matt ever recommended anyone kill themselves. I didnt particularlly find it amusing either... When you start posting images from rotten.com and it's ilk, then obviously the maturity level is dropping. I understand that alot of people on the boards are younger, but the development team, IMHO , has the responsibility to be above that, and should moderate these boards with more sense than that. When a dev posts or makes a response, his words or reponses reflect upon the entire team.

Well, ok, that's the Dev team's position, i have no other choice than respect it.
Tho i ll still believe that publicly lynch someone that does so much for the community and let him go away without a word doesn't raise that maturity level.
In france, we have a word for what happened, its "derapage", that's those rare things that happen, sometimes, when they shouldn't happen if people were respecting the common sense. If Matt made an error, well, he made it, ok, warn him privately and that's finished, i m persuaded he is intelligent and adult enough to know that he went to far and should drop the subject. Instead of that, the topic isnt closed and finishes with the worst possible end for the community. I regret this, i was appreciating Matt and was impressed by its presence and the overall very good qualities of his anwsers, that ll be missed.

I have my opinion as too how members of the dev team should act, and what is within good taste, but those are just my personal opinions. There is no enforcement arm of the group that slaps people on the wrists when they do things others of us don't approve of.

I also hate to see Matt leave, but its his decision. Ultimately none of us have the ability to regulate the actions of the others...

I am aware they are in no way similar its the fact that just like no one should post the suicidal crap, why is it ok for him to flame newbs daily, it doesn't matter what goes on in your daily lives, you should never ever take out your problems on someone else, its just stupid.

We notimated him to moderate the boards, then when he did things that way no one said a word about it. So, in our silence we made it permissible...

If you had moral observations about the way he admin'd, why wait till after the fact to complain about it ?

I agree, it is stupid to take out and vent your problems on these boards, thats why ive been so vehement lately about people behaving with a little civility , but the fact is we allowed the boards to get to this point by not being actively involved.... So whose to blame, them for their attitudes or us for turning a blind eye to it while it was happening ?
