Y'know, there is actually an everquest trilogy install file on Sony's ftp, I think for people that have lost there cd's, but still have an account. So they don't have to buy a new one.

But, unfortunetly, I don't have the link.

Is no warez if u download the patcher from the OFFICIAL everquest site and then u download all files whit it.

I was under the impression that warez was only the distribution of pirated software, or software that had been cracked. I don't think it is considered warez if you download it off their official site, which they provide links too...

I don't condone (sp?) warez, however, I was just stating that downloading the game from the official website for the game, that is being freely distributed by the creators of the game, doesn't sound like warez too me, but I'm no legal expert.

Agreed... But let's consider a fine line that is being walked here... I believe it is JUST that, a fine line. Some draw the line here, and some there. But what is important in THIS particular case is what the devs and admins of THIS board consider crossing that line.. I suggested that the thread be locked only for the sake of those discussing it. I just dont want to see someone get into trouble with the admins because they didnt know when to quit, or crossed that line set by the admins... I could be totally in the wrong at this point, and if I am, then I digress.... But there-again, I really dont want to see any trouble come out of it... Better to leave it alone, than to push the issue I say.. hehe..

You, me or anyone making an ISO of that latest version of Photoshop and spreading it would be warez, but software packaged for download from the distributor - I'm sorry, but you need to get your facts straight. They even packaged one of the distributions in easy-to-handle 15MB files (so you won't have to re-download it all if you use a crappy program and it's aborted for some reason).

Besides, how could anyone abuse the game by downloading it from their site (except for EQEmu-purposes, that is - but I'd like to think the number of people here is not anything anyone over at SoE is losing sleep over), since you actually need to have a fresh CD-key to even register a new user?

Umm, oh yeah, hi and stuff - I've lurked here for a while, but I just had to post an answer here, so I finally registered.

It is NOT the download of the files that makes it warez on this board. If you would read the rules you would see that GETTING the files is not what is meant by warez here...What is meant is ASKING for or providing the means to get files that are NOT of eqemu is what the admins are not wanting on this board.. If you want to find the files and download them, that is totally up to you.

skimmed thru posts but anyways, u can DL it free from their ftp or the patch will download everything itself, all u need is the patcher. regardless u still need a cdkey to play so free or not you gotta pay for something sooner or later

...as for eqemu and warez...why are u even talking about not supporting warez when u are here.

Maybe because I bought my EQ legitimately? Yes I BOUGHT the software, so it's not warez. So what does that have to do with me being here? Nothing on this site is warez. I don't see where you're making this correllation of the EQEMu site and warez.

In addition to that, it's difficult to classify something as "warez" if the company making the software is giving it away on a web site with NO user name and NO password required.
