well that is a given.

Noport,
The information you provided may be good for someone only wanting to play within their own LAN, but here is a quote from the Original Poster in the first post of this thread: Quote:
And yes, the best solution is to use dyndns.com with EQEmuLoginServer or to just make it a public server and restrict access, which is probably the easiest route to go. |
I purchase a number of services from dyndns, and couldn't be happier. I use DDWRT on my router, and it works seamlessly with dyndns.

Right. I actually like the minilogin a lot when I'm just running around offline by myself. It's actually the only way I've been able to get my own instance of the game up and running.
Not sure why I have so much trouble using the full EqEmuLogin server, but I'll try some of the suggestions above and see how it works out. |
You don't need to run your own login server(most everybody else doesnt either). Run world and zone(through the bat file) and that is all you need.

I'm sure em glad to hear more good news like that Sourdough35 80)

Ok I figured out how to login using the LoginServer. I can access the server on my local machine and on a lan connected computer. But I still can't connect outside of the lan.
eqemu_config.xml <?xml version="1.0"?> <server> <world> <shortname>Offline</shortname> <longname>Everquest Offline</longname> <!-- address has to be specified for minilogin to work --> <address>192.168.1.100</address> <localaddress>127.0.0.1</localaddress> <!-- Loginserver information. --> <loginserver> <host>192.168.1.100</host> <port>5998</port> <account>Admin</account> <password>Password</password> </loginserver> <!-- Sets the shared key used by zone/launcher to connect to world --> <key>make up some random string of characters here</key> <!-- Enable and set the port for the HTTP service --> <http port="9080" enable="true" mimefile="mime.types"/> </world> <!-- Database configuration, replaces db.ini --> <database> <host>localhost</host> <port>3306</port> <username>xxxx</username> <password>xxxxxxxx</password> <db>peq</db> </database> </server> the login.ini is [database] host = localhost port = 3306 db = PEQLoginDB user = xxxx password = xxxxxxxx subsystem = MySQL [options] unregistered_allowed = TRUE reject_duplicate_servers = FALSE trace = TRUE world_trace = FALSE dump_packets_in = FALSE dump_packets_out = FALSE listen_port = 5998 local_network = 192.168.1.100 [security] plugin = EQEmuAuthCrypto mode = 5 [Titanium] port = 5998 opcodes = login_opcodes.conf [SoD] port = 5999 opcodes = login_opcodes_sod.conf [schema] account_table = tblLoginServerAccounts world_registration_table = tblWorldServerRegistration world_admin_registration_table = tblServerAdminRegistration world_server_type_table = tblServerListType my eqhost.txt points to xx.x.xx.xxx:5998 xx.x.xx.xxx is the actual ip address of my computer as revealed by a google search. |

localaddress might need to be your actual network card ip rather than localhost, although depending on how that;s used they may be equivalent. Either way, using 192.168.1.100 shouldn't hurt anything. |
Still no go
eqemu_config <!-- address has to be specified for minilogin to work --> <address>xx.x.xx.xxx</address> <localaddress>192.168.1.100</localaddress> <!-- Loginserver information. --> <loginserver> <host>192.168.1.100</host> <port>5998</port> <account>Admin</account> <password>Password</password> </loginserver> login.ini [database] host = localhost port = 3306 db = PEQLoginDB user = xxxx password = xxxxxxxx subsystem = MySQL [options] unregistered_allowed = TRUE reject_duplicate_servers = FALSE trace = TRUE world_trace = FALSE dump_packets_in = FALSE dump_packets_out = FALSE listen_port = 5998 local_network = 127.0.0.1 [security] plugin = EQEmuAuthCrypto mode = 5 [Titanium] port = 5998 opcodes = login_opcodes.conf [SoD] port = 5999 opcodes = login_opcodes_sod.conf [schema] account_table = tblLoginServerAccounts world_registration_table = tblWorldServerRegistration world_admin_registration_table = tblServerAdminRegistration world_server_type_table = tblServerListType eqhost points to xx.x.xx.xxx:5998 Should I not be trying this from within my lan? Does it only work from an outside computer? |

If you don't have a Ls account please get one or more if needed! |
question Sourdough35 what server Rev are you using ?
|
2098 with bots. Trying to use eqemuliginserver without making it public.
|
before you compile the server code goto common EQEmuConfig.h and change the server to your current ip address or dot.com etc if you wish replace with real ip address where it says eqemulator.net then use my example above with your real ip address or dot.com http://www.whatismyip.com/ you can try and put your real ip address in there and see if that works for you first before going throw all that trouble. I understand that you don't want to make it public for everyone , this away you'll be able to tell all your friends your ip address or dot.com to connect to your server only. I understand you and your wife want restricted content do to childern or kids etc playing on your network.
|
I've never actually compiled my server before, I've just used the most up to date binaries. Is that necessary to run your own small private? If so, I'll try that out.
And there's no wife or kids in this scenario. I'm just not interested in using the public server option. I want something I can download, pass to friends, and be totally independent on connections to other services beyond basic internet. |
I haven't tried that was just and idea is all i was just kicking the can around .
