I just tried to connect to 'The Nightspire' with Wireshark running.

Given the config you posted, I am assuming this is your server, IP address 67.169.213.238

I can get to character select, but on attempting to enter a zone, I see this in my wireshark trace:

A packet from my PC to your server (67.169.213.238 ) on UDP port 7004
An ICMP port unreachable from you saying destination port unreachable.

This implies to me that you do not have UDP port 7004 forwarded on your router to the internal address of your server.

That's really odd because I have the entire range of 7000-7900 open and forwarded to my server's static IP address, I've included a screenshot of my settings for that specific range:

http://www.iengine.org/screenshots/forward_ports.gif

Showing that the entire range of 7000 - 7900 are open for both TCP and UDP.

What do you make of that?
Thanks!

Actually, that means 7000 - 7900 all goes to internal 7900. You need to enable port range.

And the number for Private Port(s) probably needs to be 7000. I assume that denotes where the range starts.

I've made the changes to the forwarding/filters. Still seeing blockage far as I can tell, you too?

not in the server list

The ports weren't your only problem. Your config still needed some changing too. Your external IP or a dyndns hostname.

What do you mean regarding this? What about my external IP -or- a dyndns hostname? My IP is basically static theres no problem there since it wont change for at least another year, what is the dyndns and how will that help my problem?

Thanks.

So you got it sorted ? (I just logged in succesfully to tutorial and then zoned to PoK).

Nightspire 05-04-2012 02:32 PM

No, not that I know of, I saw you or someone shout in the PoK zone but I did a who all and couldnt find anyone and tried to send tells and shout and got no reply. Did you actually log in and run around zoning?

Nightspire 05-04-2012 02:34 PM

Was that you on Rafree shouting? I saw someone shout, but couldn't find them, did you log or did you crash out? And are you actually able to login and zone?

Derision 05-04-2012 02:36 PM

Yes, that was me. I camped after sending the shout. I was going to send a /tell but you have the chat restrictions in place (think the default is level 5 before being able to /tell or /ooc).

I just logged in again, seems to be working fine.

Thanks mucho! It's working like a charm now!

Thanks muchas!

Hi Guys,

I know this is a dated post, but I am trying to setup my server to be accesible from an external network as well. I have done all the steps outlined in this post, but when I try loggin in from an external source, it takes me to character select. When I try to login, it disconnects me and makes me login again. On top of that, my login server keeps saying "[Error] World tried to login but there already exists a server that has that name."

Can I please get some help with this?
