I have tried the HackersQuest emu its very poorly done, it has nothing, all races, classes start out in West Freeport, you cant even consider mobs, there item list isnt even up to date with probly a newly installed everquest version, i dont know what kind of viruses it has left me with and i hope not to find out, you cant even attack, its just like a tour, you can probly a go a few zones and then pow it crashes.

I wouldnt know where to start, but at least i wouldnt do the job half assed and release some junk that doesnt even compare to playing the everquest tutorial.

I can understand your reasons, but for this type of project, I would argue that the sooner you release, the better - regardless of quality. This sort of thing appeals to code monkeys, and is a great recruiting tool!

I agree.. It's alot more than anyone else other than this project have offered, and I'd hardly call it 'half-assed' because it's lacking features.. I'd call that comment 'half-brained'

I remember when the first Ultima Online emus first appeared. You could barely do more than just walk around, and the Z coordinate didn't work at all. Even though there was so little that could be done with them, I still liked being able to run my own server to see how the project was coming along. Now they are nearly as good as the real thing. Better in my opinion, since you can set them however you like.

I'm glad to see that other EQ emulator out there, it gives me a chance to start checking things out. He has less features than the older version right now, since he changed some things around. And I am eagerly awaiting the next release of EQemu so I can try it also. I can't run the 4.4 since I don't have the right client files. From what I see on the boards, EQemu is looking great. I wish we could get a ballpark eta... days, weeks, months, next year?

Besides, anything we get from the devs should be appreciated. They are not making anything from their hard work.

Good work and good luck to all the dev teams out there.

ROFL, lacking features, its lacking everything, its like a bunch of screenshots playing over and over again, looking at the same stuff, its just garbage, you cant even use who thats how sad it is. So either i missed something in how to set it up, which i highly doubt, or he is just wasting everyones time trying to get them to download it.

Word is that the item system got an overhaul for LDoN, and unique items will be capable. Yes, item augmenting actually makes the item unique permanantly.

ArchAngel_Vain 08-08-2003 01:55 PM

X-Scythe shutup and get out of my topic, seriously your not helping with your retarded preschool comments.

im only telling the truth. you go make your own emu by yourself and we'll see how good it is. if you make one better than ethernalquest ill be surprised but until then you cant dis ethernalquest because you cant do any better

Shawn319 08-10-2003 06:07 AM

oh come on people.. who cares!!!!

If you want to use ethernalquest then go ahead. The devs here are doing their best to make EQEmu work like it should. there are tons and tons of things to fix and it will take some time.

There are much better things to be doing than to make a 40 page thread on why EQEmu is or is not better than EthernalQuest.

I'm locking this before it goes any further.
