rebooting server - checking some configs

every now and then eqemu xml file and the way that the server start batch file work change ever so slightly. im trying to figure out if that is the case by unpacking the "serverpack" that is provided on these forums (is it up to date ? hah)

ok there was some weirdness in the server boot batch file. seems the recommended order of boot has changed again in the last year. lets see if that helps???

this new boot menu on the server is tellign me my database is not up to date as well. so i am going to be looking into that now.

it was working before the update.
ip addresses both external and internal haven't changed.
i can connect from my lan

Yeah, still getting the same issue on my end too.

I'm trying to log in to play for the first time after reading about the server, I'm getting into character select and then when i try to enter the world, it freezes the character spinning, then says "The server is not responding" and then quickly followed by "You have been disconnected". Hopefully that helps you in what is going on.

im not sure what is wrong. maybe i have to roll back :(

i tried compiling with debug mode on and nothing useful popped up in teh logs or console

I wish there was more info to give you to help troubleshoot.
Everything is normal up to character select.
If you pick a character and hit enter world it just freezes, no Entering guild lobby or wherever.
If you make a new character, it does pop up with the entering message, but still freezes and does the same as trying to log in an existing character, server not responding, followed by you have been disconnected.

it's almost like its behind a firewall or something, but that doesn't make any sense because i'm able to reach the character select

yeah i'm just taking care of a few RL things then I will hunker down and do some testing with the debug version again.

fyi: i think my scripts are breaking entering the world.

character_ no longer exists. seems that they broke up that evil blob

maybe i need to de-activate all of my scripts and do a bit of house keeping.

I have a nasty function that depacks the character_ blob (from before) and i use (used) it alot! now i guess i don't need to so. i searched for its use in my perl code and

37 hits in plugins
18 hits in quests

not too bad. i just need to fix it once and the references will fall in line.
for now i changed all reference to character_ to character_old

if that fixes it, i will leave it for now and slowly hand convert the 30 or so scripts that need to start using the new character tables ~
