HOWTO: EQEMu + NAT
Loginserver
### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to. ### --- Leave the account and password field BLANK. ### --- Public Login is un-supported as is LAN playing. We reccomend using the EQEmu.net Loginserver ALWAYS. ### --- NOTE: Starting 6-1-2002, you can no longer use the word "Server" in worldname. ### --- NOTE2: the word "Server" is added to each server automaticly. # READ README.TXT [LoginServer] loginserver=eqlogin1.eqemu.net loginserver2=eqlogin2.eqemu.net loginport=5999 loginport2=5999 worldname=servername locked=false worldaddress=name.no-ip.org [WorldServer] Defaultstatus= Unavailzone= [LoginConfig] ServerMode=Standalone ServerPort=5999 UplinkAddress= UplinkPort= UplinkAccount= UplinkPassword= -------------------------------------------------------- Boot5zones.bat REM: ****Read this first!!!**** REM: This file requires your real IP in the place of "YourIP" when you are connecting REM: To the EQEmu Loginserver. REM: When you are using minilogin, Replace all IP Addresses to say 127.0.0.1 REM: If you still get errors try using localhost instead of 127.0.0.1 REM:--------------Start----------------------- @echo off start zone . name.no-ip.org 7995 192.168.123.1 start zone . name.no-ip.org 7996 192.168.123.1 start zone . name.no-ip.org 7997 192.168.123.1 start zone . name.no-ip.org 7998 192.168.123.1 start zone . name.no-ip.org 7999 192.168.123.1 exit cls REM:---------------END------------------------ last, for clients on your local network (internal ip) you need to edit your hosts file. it can be located in ... on windows 2000 (system drive) winnt\system32\drivers\etc and the file name is hosts on windows xp it is (system drive) windows\system32\drivers\etc and the file name is hosts the location of your windows drive can differ depending on what you named it at install my hosts entry 192.168.123.1 name.no-ip.org ip address domain name so, if you want the name "name.dns2go.com" to be resolved to "192.168.123.1" when typed in thats what you need to do .. on every client computer on your internal network. people with external ip addresses do NOT need to do this this is my server config. name.no-ip.org = external address your internal address will be diffrant goto no-ip.orgregister your own dns ... then make the dns point to your external address also in loginserver.ini erase the following (my config has both lines erased already) account= password= they will mess up your config if you leave em there, on nat configs only once again for "hosts" file you need "name.no-ip.org *internal address* EX myserver.no-ip.org 192.168.123.1 on all other files name.no-ip.org will equal your external address the "hosts" overrides your computer's TCP-ip DNS settings, so for all internal users when "name.no-ip.org" needs to be resolved .. it will not goto your ISP's dns server it will look inside the "hosts" file you made with this config i can host internal and external users hope it helps you nat users =) |
ok tested server and this config works for both external and internal users =)
I tested it and it works!!thx a lot friend, one question, the domain is only for 30 days trial,do u know other?
Hmm.. I set up everything as u said above, but i still get error 1017 for some odd reason when I try to log in to my own server..
Wait.. that could be because I didnt patch, I dont know though since i was getting that error before, I just updated gonna try it again.
and it dosent work... apparently the patch wasnt the problem, its the issue I have been having since I tried to get around this whole thing, which i still think is an issue with my router, but i dont know
did you edit your "hosts" file? all internal connections REQUIRE you to add the following entry
internal ip domain name this is an example of mine 192.168.123.1 domain.no-ip.org |
yes, my hosts file is configured properly, I tested it by starting up my web server app and with my ip mapped properly my friend could connect to a page hosted locally using my no-ip dns. I hvae also set up the port forwarding on my router so that 5999 and the 7990-7995 ports are forewarded to me.
im assoming you use nat? if so then your router is not an issue if your trying to connect localy
erase your whole setup and start over .. took me 2 trys to get mine working |
hmm and what about if my friend is behind nat and can't connect to game on internet servers ?? can connect to server list..select server list.. create char.. but then it is disconnected...
very quickly :( ....... try change datarate to 8.0 or higher but this don't help.. |
Argg. I saw everything here that was wrong with my server and I got my hopes up. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. Still get the 1017 error (only for internal use, external players log on fine). Anyone know any other ways around this freakin' annoying problem?
