5.0 Item Editor 1.1 (NEW 1.5!!)

Ok I know it has only been about an hour since the release of 1.0, but I thought these changes were too urgent to wait.

http://www.fliphost.net/item/ItemEditor12.zip

Changes in 1.1:
Menu items (excluding minimize/exit) will do nothing if program isn't connected to the database. This will save crashes from those who like to click things when not connected. :D

New Item and Delete Item will be disabled until connection with a database is found.

Program will no longer crash if "settings.ini" is not found.

When loading, if program is unable to connect to a database, the "Save Settings" dialog will appear allowing you to change your database information and will try to connect again.

That is it for now, please reply to this topic with any feedback and/or bugs. Thank you.

Nice job with the fast updates. :D

Kroeg 11-03-2003 01:39 AM

awesome efforts mangoo... I can't wait to get home and play with it! I'm really surprised you haven't had more compliments!

Thanks a lot for your time and energy!

mangoo 11-03-2003 02:04 AM

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate it. I'd like to note a known bug though :( . Apostrophies in the fields (e.g. Mob's Sword) will cause queries to fail, so an item will not save properly. This is being worked on, in the meantime, please leave out any apostrophies.

mangoo 11-03-2003 02:20 AM

Hi again everyone, got a new version for you all that fixes the error with apostrophies. I apologize for all the new releases so quickly and any inconvenience this has caused. You can get 1.2 here: http://www.fliphost.net/item/ItemEditor12.zip. The above link has also been changed to target 1.2 download.

DeletedUser 11-03-2003 02:30 AM

uhhh. Apologize? You silly tard.. more updates = better. :P
I'll scam through it later for errors. So far so good though.

a_Guest03 11-03-2003 02:30 AM

mangoo, if you apologize for fast releases again, I'm going to pummel you! Thanks for the code fixes, and for the extra tool.

*bows*

mangoo 11-03-2003 02:31 AM

Sorry :P

a_Guest03 11-03-2003 02:36 AM

*reaches across the forum and strangles the boy*

Why you little!

DeletedUser 11-03-2003 02:38 AM

mangoo, any plan on releasing source later on? Because a bunch of good item editors always die out when the makers get lazy with the updates. :P

mangoo 11-03-2003 02:41 AM

I will be releasing the source, I'm going to put up a nice little page on my website for all of the EQEmu tools and whatnots shortly. Before I release the source I want to clean it up a bit and comment much it to make it easier to read :D .

mangoo 11-03-2003 03:02 AM

Just looked at the error log on my website and notice lots of hits to ItemEditor10.zip still going on :P . So in light of that I was able to add a redirect to the correct file for those still clicking on the link in the news.

Kebleertunes 11-03-2003 04:26 AM

arkaria 11-03-2003 04:59 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong but this utility is used to Modify/Create items for an EQemu server DB.

exzapel 11-03-2003 09:14 AM

It's for server admins only, not if you are playing on someone elses server.

exzapel 11-03-2003 09:20 AM

ok im not griping but shouldnt that be posted somewhere? like on the main post where you get this from?

mattmeck 11-03-2003 09:22 AM

Its in 3'rd party tools...people dont need anything from here to play. Being in this forum says its not needed to play.

exzapel 11-03-2003 09:24 AM

oh well dont really mind just wondering

mangoo 11-03-2003 09:30 AM

It is an item editor, you would have to have database access to edit an item on a server.

exzapel 11-03-2003 09:35 AM

well i dunno im new to eq and anything related to eq i have no clue on how to do such things and about such things i wouldnt know

mangoo 11-03-2003 04:21 PM

Welcome to Version 1.3 folks! 2 updates to this one, 1. Fixed a typo in Bard Instrument types :P 2. Added a search window.

Actually

I think that if you have a title that allows you to edit item stats in-game, (ie. Steward) you can. I've tried before WITHOUT the editor and it says something about not having a program, or I'm not in the right mode. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this may be the program needed to use the in-game item editor. I just saw it under #help and tried it, didn't work. So, this MIGHT be what the computer wants, for you to edit items. Just a guess, will try when I get home.

Daeklaz,

Trying to edit items ingame==bad. I think what your referring to is the item edit function that was left over from the days before shared memory. Shared memory is static and should never be changed after a server has started, if it were possible to change it, you would get all kinds of wierd errors.

mangoo 11-06-2003 12:41 PM

Ok ok I promise I'll slow down a bit after this one.
http://emu.fliphost.net/files/ItemEditor14.zip
