can't log on to a server ... plz help
 

hello everyone,

I am new to the EQEMU thing. I did everything I was supposed to do but when I get to the server select screen it won't allow me to log into any of the servers. After i select one and select log on nothing happens for a few minutes then it says something to the effect of log on server timed out anyone have any idea what may be cuasing this.

all and any ideas would be greatly appreciated =)

Try patching to EQ Live, its possible your everquest files are not up to date with the DR4 servers.

I just logged off of EQ Live before setting up my EQEMU account so I know my patch is current.

If you got a firewall up you need to open that port i had that problem.

No firewalls either =)

do have Norton antivirus running could that do it?

And are you using the new:

i sure am had the problem with the old one b4 and used the forum to fix that.

Does the server you are trying to log into have players on it?

Yes = probable issue on your end, maybe connection related.

No = possible problem with the servers

yes the server i am trying to connect to is Benden Weyr [Non-Legit] server 11-15 players on it at any given time that i have tried log on

That server is limited to 12 players, with the old login server you used to get a message saying that it was full when the limit was reached, but with the new login server it just times out. Try one of the Green coloured servers.

Shutdown your computer, if you have high speed internet unplug the modem for three minutes....plug it back in, wait for all the lights to come on solid (about one minute) and then turn the computer back on. Patch to Live, change the eqhost.txt back to EQEMu loginserver and try to log on. If that doesn't work I have no idea, good luck :)

Well Derision, he did say he tried to log into all the servers in the list.

yes i did try them all but always tried that one first so that could be it i will try another green server first ... thank you all and i will post if it works so you don't continue wasting time on poor little me =)

one last ? do the new exspansions work on EQEMU?

If the person running the server has them enabled on their server yes.

do you know of any servers that are currently running them?

Most should be, but if the server is custom it might not be, you kinda just have to log on to them and ask.

did you delet the spaces off of the lines in the eq.host file at the end of the text their is a space that fixed it for me.
