this guide is very helpful but i cannot seem to get to the account registration part from the eq game what am i doing wrong?

im currently compatible with 5.7

this doesnt really help me upgrade to

5.8

If you are compatible with 5.7 check the global announcement "Server Update" on what your eqhost.txt should say. Your version is there...

when can we expect an up to date how to?

Yeah it would be really nice if someone can post an updated guide.

this guide is up to date, this is exactly what you will need to do once EQEmu is current with live.


The whole EMU is not compadable with live, hence why this guide is sayd to not work.

I dont know if its just me being stupid but do we make an icon for everquest.exe or eqgame.exe? because eqgame does not have a space for me to change the target but everquest.exe does, anyone know what i need to do?

he even included pictures on how to do the shortcut.

Wait what is the live thing??? Is there a way to do this on a personal or local server??? Because the only thing that is keeping me from playing is that i cant get the server list to come up... A window pops up that says to check for schedualed downtimes and stuff... what do you think my problem is??

I've got this part, but what exactly should my eqhost file say if i want to connect to the newest servers?

I have done what the guide says but when i try to log in to the server a message appears that says: "The connection to the server could not be reached. Check your internet connection to make sure you are online."

What can i do??

Is there a guide that does work now? Only problem I ran into with this guild even after i put EQHOST as read only and boot up EQ it will still patch new EQHOST

make sure your shortcut has the drive:\path\eqgame.exe patchme, or else yes it will continue to patch that file and return it to Sony's default, even if it is write protected.

Most of the guide is still correct, as far as I can tell. The only confusion seems to be the login server port to use. It's a little confusing when there are several listed in one thread, just to find in another thread that the previous port is wrong. Could someone post a sticky of just the proper ports, make it as simple as possible, since 5996 is gone.

eqlsclient.ini file still need to be downloaded onto eq directory? only step I missed, I think.

so what port should it be?

Whenever i doudle click on the Shortcut to eqgame icon this little box comes up and it says "Error in your GUI XML files. Check UIErrors.txt. Does anyone know what that means? please help

Try making sure your Start In field on the shortcut is your eq directory as well as the target being your eq dir + eqgame.exe -patchme

anyone know what to type when u 1st get in so you dont get kicked repeatedly?

I am getting that Lack of Internet connection error also, and of course, seeing as how I can make this post, I do indeed have Internet connection. WTF am I doing wrong? I have updated the eqhost.txt, and the eqclient file but to no avail. Please help. Should I just reinstall my old EQ CD to my 2nd HD and go from there?

In addition, I followed the guides as close as to the letter as possible, but when I load EQ it completely crashes my system.
