Echoes 11-06-2004 07:15 AM

cofruben 11-07-2004 12:13 AM

yes...it is in progress.Zordon is coding it,I will help him when I get some time :? .

hypershadow66 11-07-2004 07:06 AM

where istheir site located?

Edgar1898 11-07-2004 09:56 AM

Tell him to code it in C/C++ this time instead of that ruby garbage and he might have more people willing to help :)

zordon 11-07-2004 01:32 PM

I really love EqEmu forums.
Code:

This is the same as to claim that EqEmu is written in Perl.

Ruby is just a scripting language you can use with emu - not the language emu is written on. You guys never even check what the other emu is :)

sotonin 11-07-2004 02:11 PM

I think the biggest debate is. We'd like a real db and not flat files. Man i'd be psyched to work on the eq2emu with you zordon. But i can't stand flat files. :(

zordon 11-07-2004 03:27 PM

It was done to make it easier to install. I havn't decided how it would be in eq2emu.

Anyway I am currently working on eq2collector trying to have it ready for tuesday and not really on emu yet. If you want to take part in analyzing eq2 data let me know.

Edgar1898 11-07-2004 03:34 PM

Wow all it took to draw Zordon here was a post about my distaste for Ruby heh :P

I'll tell you the truth, I have never used Ruby and I know very little about it, for all I know it could be the best thing since (insert cool thing here). Zordon, are you really making an EQ2 emu? If so, what language is it going to be coded in? I dunno how much support there is around here for an eq2 emulator.

Edgar1898 11-07-2004 03:37 PM

Zordon, I'll probably make a collector for it too. Is the packet protocol similiar? I havent had a chance to look at it. I'll help collect for you once I get eq2 installed later this week.

zordon 11-07-2004 03:47 PM

The basic packet protocol the same as in EQ1 login server. But they decided not to take a chance to send any plain data anymore. Everything is encrypted.

P.S. If eq2emu will ever comes out from me - scripting language will be python

Edgar1898 11-07-2004 03:52 PM

What about the language the actual code is written in?

zordon 11-07-2004 03:54 PM

It will be written in C++ same as my EQ1 emu (sorry for breaking 2 year old rumor that it was written in ruby).

sotonin 11-07-2004 04:27 PM

Shit zordon. Now i'm going to have to buy EQ2 to help out. I wasn't planning on playing it. lol

:D

govtcheeze 11-07-2004 04:48 PM

Zordon, if you need mysql / php type work for the database or scripts, let me know.

Daeath 11-07-2004 05:31 PM

So what does this mean for EQ1EMU? No more EMU releases? No more database development?

Oh well...

I got some buddies who'll be on EQ2 24/7 starting on the 9th... how soon can you expect a packet collector out? I'll make sure my buddies are collecting EQ2Live so I can get on an emulated server sooner...

cofruben 11-07-2004 07:36 PM

there are two projects,eq1emu(This one) and eq2emu(from zordon).Different people in each so we will continue working on eqemu I hope.

Rogean 11-07-2004 11:47 PM

EQEmu will remain alive, although I don't know how active many of the developers will be. Many of us, including myself, will be playing EQ2 =P

McFox666 11-08-2004 03:26 AM

Hopefuly eqemu will stay alive =(^_^)=
I dislike EQ2 :/ 'this' is NOT an EQ >_<

Long Life EQ !! Long Life EQEmu !!

I love ya the devs and peq staff :p

hypershadow66 11-08-2004 04:56 AM

what is the minimum requirments for video card specs with eq2?

Memener 11-10-2004 07:13 AM

This is why you should get the newest verson of EQEmu and back them up long with quests databaseand source code. So if the people start leaving you'll beable to play EQ1 any time you want....

Who knows maybe the EQ2emu will be able to emu EQ1.

I dont have a computer powerful that can run EQ2 like EQ1
I dont want to play in 640x480 low everthing and have it still lag

atleast for now.

mysticalninjajesus 11-10-2004 08:11 AM

maybe someone should remake all the eq1 classic world zones with high polys and we should make an eq1 emulator on eq2 engine omfg!!

lol zordon I didnt know everyone in the world knew about your eq2emu. Just remember when you invite people to join the dev team that I have to activate their account on our dev forums and limit the forums they can view (unless they help with MxO of course but if not I will give them access to your eq2 forum)

Knight Errant 11-10-2004 02:00 PM

I don't know much about programming but I would love to beta test when you have something playable.

yoyu007 11-10-2004 09:02 PM

The patcher of course! (With an active EQ2 acct)

Just a reminder, even tho your asking about EQ2, it's still copyrighted files and still considered against the forum rules to be asking for those files from any place other than game-company-sanctioned distro channels.

Windcatcher 11-11-2004 12:11 PM

I'm not planning on supporting an EQ2Emu project...I have serious ethical problems with trying to emulate any game that is new or relatively new. Undoubtedly a lot of effort has gone into EQ2 and I think the game should be allowed to flourish without any interference. I especially wouldn't want it on my conscience that people were using an emu to cheat (such as exploring zones ahead of others).

that post was from the devil lol

lmao

I have mixed feeling about people who believe that its wrong to emulate new or relatively new games but yet they emulate older games. Just a little confusing.

hypershadow66 11-11-2004 05:02 PM

so wheres the forums/website that isnt FTP for eq2emu?

which are also private except to us Devs :)

KhaN 11-11-2004 11:47 PM

Why emulate when you can work on your own MMORPG.
Personally, seeing at what point EQEmu is, i would rather wish to see all efforts going into a GNU client using eqemu than another random emulator that will just emulate something that already exist, because yeah, something like MMORPGMaker would be the pwn. What miss now to get something like this is only a client and an NPC importer.
