NPC's Won't attack even when KOS?
I am using Peq and caveman / switching between the too and the most up to date on all other programs. The server runs and I can attack the monsters and then they will attack me, but I can wak right by mobs that i con KOS but they still will not attack even if I sit. I did double check the map files. Anyone know why the mobs won't attack?
|
If you have higer then status 0 the NPC's wont agro you. Yes even a status of 1 makes you non kos.
|
yeah but...
How do I check that and how do I change that.... Also guards do not attack kos mobs either....

yeah but again....
I do apreciate the replies very much but you must remember I am a little baby and i can't see any database, I don't understand how to edit the database. the DRP editor only does tables not accounts and items and such. and mysql is all dos based and command line driven which i assume does edit it but i have no clue how. Is there a graphical editor for this database? the only thing I do know is I can see the database files in my EQ folder... just need to know how exactly to edit them........

Thanks! I got it now! I can see the real tables finally

There is probably an answer to every question you have right now, either in the wiki or posted in the forums. I try to search first then ask, and still I end up getting posts with quotes to wiki/forums. |

Shrug. Maybe the game just hates me more. |

Yea, If your in GM mode, you wont get attacked. Turn off GM mode in game by using the #gm off command while targeting yourself.

Just have #gm command at a higher level. |
In my experience, if I make my name "blue", it stays blue after I relog back in. Even at status 250. And, if I throw myself off the top-most peak in Tranquility, I do die. :)
With #gm on, I do not die. Makes for awesome cliff diving competitions. |
Still nada
I set myself to 0 in the status and double checked it. scowls at me ready to attack mobs will still not attack on sight. =(

I carry two accounts, one GM and one non-GM (this way I can't cheat myself by flicking on the GM mode). |
=( still not sure what the issue is here

I did the #gm off and then i put my status and the status of everything i can see to 0 but they won't attack me, even restarted the server and relogged. =( Any other ideas or something I could do? It's just not everquest without tons of mobs all wanting a piece of me. |
Did you download the maps file and extract it to the maps directory for your emu install. (make sure that it didn't extract to /maps/maps/) I did that once and nothing would attack me then I found that my maps directory had a maps directory with the files under that.
But I've been playing with a status of 250 at lvl 65 and have the decaying skeletons attack my in Nektulos Forest, and the two Skeletons on the way out of Paineel to Toxxulia Forest attack me (but I was lvl 1 going to tox). |
Yes, recheck your maps folder. I'm level 70 on my server and the skeltons in west freport always attack me if I get near them ... as they do in live as well. So, something is not where it should be...
|
Ahh yes, maps. I keep forgetting those, since I don't think they change much. :)
I'm sure faction is not an issue, if they are scowling. Could it be aggro radius? I notice some NPCs do not respond to Hail until I am standing square on top of them. |
maps...
Well I had that problem originally and I could not attack any mobs because of line of sight. I still can't cast attack spells but I had moved the maps into my eq emu and bang attacking npcs worked everytime except some flying mobs i have trouble hitting....
the only thing i did do that "might" have an effect is i had all the maps from eq toolbox in there as well. would that have any reason to interfere? |
Tried that =(
Ok I tried using just the basic maps and that did not fix it either, i tried starting 100% over with the server and mysql nd everything and still npc's will not attack.
Here is the lowdown.... i am using: EQEmu-0.7.0-845.zip ActivePerl-5.8.8.816-MSWin32-x86-255195.zip mysql-4.0.23-win.zip EQEmuServerPack-3.52.exe EQEmuServerPack-Config.exe 1. The npc's have faction and are kos 2. #gm off is used and server restarted 3. status in db for that char is set to 0, server restarted 4. maps are placed in the correct folder. furthermore the maps are strictly the ones you start with so I could see if the toolbox ones were the problem. Results are npc's that con KOS but will not agro by radius. They will however attack when provoked. help please I am really trying and this is the most info I can offer. |

doh
Ok I had used a tutorial that didn't explain the maps I stupidly thought the txt file maps were what was called for but now I get it... yeah this fixed the problem...yes I am stupid. I would like to thank everyone for putting up with me and helping me get this working. I DO try to research how to fix the problem I just misunderstood what was really needed.
I only slept 2 hours and 5 hours the next day because I spent so much time trying to get all this together.... =( Dear god I am obsessed with this game... I keep comming back..... |
Don't be so hard on yourself bro, we all have done it and will do it again.....
You sort of tipped me off when you mentioned that you also had the maps from Mapfiend in there.... :D |
First thing I did when I saw I needed a Maps directory in my eqemu was copy/paste my Everquest/maps there - needless to say, it didn't work.
