You really have one?
|
|
How are you doing it? Custom client with current DB and Source? Seems like there would be a way to do it like that.
|
Outstanding
Nice work Sakrateri...!!!!
That said you have to tell us how you did it ???? Krusher |
Wow.. I haven't seen that interface in so long. I feel nostalgic. I can't help but love you.
Is that a custom UI, or a substitution of the old one for the current? Something far crazier? |
Its the real deal , using a haxzored kunark client with an old ass emulator, version 2.3
just got it working today. Working on the database now. one more pic http://www.kheprigames.com/EQ19.jpg |
Sitting to med with FACEBOOK while playing GEMS and some pretty old time spell effects !

Wow thats freaking awsome . you gonna put a server up , with all these features ? would have me and my friends for sure
|
Verrry Kool!
|
Just looking at those screens makes me rediculously happy =P
|
HOLY GHOST!! Which release of EQ is that? Original Kunark CD? That is amazing! Keep us updated on how it comes out. And remember to fix the boats =p
|
And don't forget about some old time models too.

I would love to get that up on my LAN. The good old boys would appreciate the old UI and gaming experience. How is the db coming? Will that build work with the original Velious release? I would love to get a build up that would support the original release of Velious, without the modified graphics engine.
Maybe I just want to relive the old days, but those screenshots made me all warm and fuzzy inside. Don't drop the ball! Run with IT! =p |
|
Do you have a server to play on? what are your plans?
|
WOW you really need to put this server up :) looks great :D
|
Book meditation. Ahh the good old days. Can't wait to see what comes of this.
|
My plans are to get a full database as I am starting with a barebones and to get everything I can working as it should (even working on getting chat working as can be seen here) And then the EMU and all instructions on how to get it working will be released here. I am also in the middle of trying to become a UK citizen and will be between here and America for the next couple of months and working on this as I can and all updates will be shown here and on my website at www.kheprigames.com It IS possible for everyone to be able to do this legally. As I said instructions will follow once it is satisfactorily complete.

Where did you get the emulator?

These classic servers are going to have so much fun reinventing the wheel quite literally with all the bugs (client & server) with the old eqemu clients. Not to mention all the functionality that was still being developed at that stage. I hope that the work pays off.

You obviously never played on Sak's Fates Destiny server back in the day. It was a great experience of the kind that lets a person trust that any of his future projects will be top notch. |

This community is WAY too small for this kind of crap.
Seriously. Enough please? |
Thanks for the support guys, Its ok if they do this, I am just one person against a team and I am not trying to compete with anyone. I thought about having some people help me on this but I wanted to avoid the drama of people getting mad and splitting up and having to restart all over again and the vicious cycle that gets too. Also I don't believe they are going to give anyone any kind of minilogin to play theirs on so you will be stuck to using their login only and going by their rules. I started working on this to make it usable by EVERYONE whether you have internet or not. I hope they do pull it off and have really got their team together now and I am sure they will probably finish before me but mine will be done and available here. I am not saying that this will be perfect in anyway either but it will be playable and bring back the old memories and hopefully when more people have got it in their hands they will be able to fix it up even more. Image is right , there is ALOT of work that needs done and I will not try to fool you by saying otherwise. So again thanks for the support and may the other guys have good luck in their endeavors also.
P.S thanks to all of the devs hard work in the past, It is their work that is making this even possible |

You, sir, are amazing.
|
Sak,
I'm sorry for the way I responded initially. I just remembered that you were the one who was asking every day if we could make this playable offline. We don't have any initial plans to do so but maybe binaries in the future. The only reason I got up in arms is because we don't need more projects splitting people a part. Nice work though. Lots of stuff to do though but our team is powering through them. -Wizzel |
Its ok Wizzel, apology accepted :) I'm not trying to compete with you guys and I do wish you all the best of luck , my time is very limited right now so I hope you get yours going soon for everyone to try. The one I am working on is strictly going to be for lan play as I have no Public Login that works for it.
|
Yeah. Just a heads up, there is a TON to fix. The developers have been hard at work fixing minor bugs and implementing major features and such and it is really a time involved project. Respect to you for getting it working by yourself and stop in IRC sometime, I would love to chat and maybe petition the government to get you internet where you live :).
-Wizzel |
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, this version will be capable of supporting up to Luclin as can be seen here in the Plane of Knowledge
http://www.kheprigames.com/POK.jpg I have to say , that is the first time I have ever seen PoK with the old client :) |
Sakrateri; do you have a playing "demo" of what you have already? You have to start somewhere.
I really like what you are doing, hope you can see it all through. |
playing demo? Im not sure what you mean by that, I am able to play it yes but still needs alot of work.
|
PoK came out with PoP, not Luclin. Luclin had Nexus as a hub, with Shadow Haven, Bazaar and Netherbian Lair as regular (not scions) zone points from Nexus. The hallway with the PoK book was a dead end at first, with the PoK books appearing mysteriously between the release of Luclin and PoP. Just an FYI. :) It's definitely cool to see PoK through old-client eyes. You gotta put this up for public play, bugs and all, Sak! :D
|
Oops , your right , it supports up to PoP . :)
