Cant login or blank server list during peak hours

Hiya, im having a strange problem when trying to log in during peak hours.

First off, this only occurs when trying to log in during the peak hours (when many people are playing) eqemulator.

Information about my system:
OS: Windows 7 Professional
Network card: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Router: ASUS RT-N66U
Running: Everquest Titanium

If i try to login, sometimes i wont be able to login at all, and other times i cant see any servers, il have to repeat this process until at some point il be able to log in (might be 50+ attempts), but it cant be like this every evening.

I've tried these options so far:
1. Add: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 to shortcut.
2. Re-installed EQ, and follow all procedures
3. Uncheck texture caching
4. Lower the FPS to about 30ish fps
5. Update drivers on video card, and run windows update.
6. Running EQ as administrator and in compatibility mode.
7. Installed Underfoot client and did all the steps on site
8. Stopped all firewalls including router
9. used ipconfig /flushdns
10. Deleted network card, re installed drivers
11. Set the router back to fabric defaults
12. Formatted machine, re-installed EQ
13. Router - Activated port forwarding to open port: 5998
14. Router - Activated port triggering: 5998
15. Router - Entered IP Address on WAN - DMZ.
16. Downloaded the PFPortchecker tool and it verified that my port 5998 is indeed forwarding correctly.
17. Grabbed my computer and headed up to a friend's place to check if it was my networkcard causing the problems, but everything worked perfectly there.

All this leads me to believe that the problem either lies with my ISP or with router itself.

The weird thing is that i can log in without any issues at all earlier in the day, but its in the peak hours i get into problems.

Any ideas?

Yeah my launcher was working fine all day yesterday.

CUCaution 03-03-2013 07:41 PM

Hmm maybe mine is a different problem than this.

CUCaution 03-03-2013 08:46 PM

This worked for me.

2. If you rightclick the background or the systray icon, you can open a context menu which allows you to start EQ without updating.

This has been happening to me as well when using the Launcher for some reason. It will not load the list of servers, just sits there retrying every 10 seconds. I had to right-click on the wallpaper/background of the launcher and click "start everquest only" to play. Lame, but it works. Guess they need to fix the launcher.

c0ncrete 03-03-2013 11:10 PM

or you could learn to connect without it, since it's not necessary or supported here.

It's been down all day for me. Still remains to be.

Could people please stop posting about these damn launchers ??? we are having major problems logging in without it.. stop confusing those who meaby can help..

So yeah this problem is pretty major for us euro players atleast..

eyeless5150 05-15-2013 01:22 PM

I agree - STOP POSTING ABOUT THE EQEMU LAUNCHER. this thread has nothing to do with it.

I also am having this problem. for a whole year i connected fine. it seems this problem comes and goes. i also have comcast.ill go over whats happening.

90% of the time i connect to the server select screen, there are no servers shown, it is blank. i would have to connect 20 or so times before i can successfully get to the character select screen. (there are also a few errors that may pop up in this connection process, and sometime when i get to the character select screen, it tells me my spell file is out dated.. i have to disconnect and start over.)

once i'm finally on the server, there is about a 70% chance i will zone crash and be back to a blank server screen for another 20 logins.

this seems like a fairly common problem from what i'v read. im sure theres a fairly simple fix.
