Is it possible ?

Is it possible to have a server that has all zones from all expansions up and running? I joined as the eqemu community was changing to 5.0 from 4.4 and so I never got to play 4.4. If not what is a feasible expectation that I can have when 5.0 is released and everything is hunky dory. 15 zones? 20 zones ? Are they only the most popular ones ? Is there some kind of guide saying if you have such and such space on your HD and such and such power you can run this many zones on your server.

Thanks

The zone arent "static" unless you make them that way, how the "zones" work is, you have 10 "zones" running. There not any zone till someone logs on and then the "zone" becomes whatever zone there in. If there isnt anyone on or less people then zones you have running then they go into sleep mode.

so with 2 zones running 1 person can go to all the zones in EQ (that they have the expancions for)

There is many discussions in the forums about how many computers are needed to make a decient server, check them out if you want to start a server.

live server specs

Just out of curiosity and for the expressed purpuse of drooling only. What kind of systems are the real EQLIVE servers running on? hardware, software, Bandwith . . .

If anyone knows anyone that knows another guy that was roomates with the 3rd cosin second removed of the best friend of the father in law of a real EQLIVE Server Admin and has some clue to the answer to this please post my minds been racking with this one for a long time and im sure others have been as well.

P.S. anyone know if all there zones are static or are some sleepers as well?

Thanks for your time i can't wait to drool over the answers :)

HOLY CRAP

 HOLY CRAP

Thats alot of bandwith i wonder what kind of power consumption that place has to to have that kind of connection thats gota be one hell of a mega momma server system they got set up ( ponders if they have backup generators or somthing?) Well its a start to droll on anyway.

P.S. My Hard drives dont communicate that fast. I really wonder what the hardware is now ( solid state hard drives mabe???) and the light know what else.

they don't have backup generators...they once had a power issue at one of the buildings and half the servers were down for like a day.

OC48 = ~2.5Gig, but that was prolly just a typo on Mattmeck's part.

krich
