Character Creation Crash
 

I create my character. Sounds simple. Second I hit the next button. After my character has all the stats distributed the game crashes. It says eq has encountered a fatal error. Would you like to report this a sony something... I say no, and boom. Shut out. Any advice? I'm gonna try reinstalling.

Ok fixed that by reinstalling. It was crashing because I couldn't click on the character name box. But now it says zone unavailable. The character is completely made now. So I'm close. I'm thinking gates of discord patches are glitched(badly). Working theory.

Make sure you're running with the Live server patches, not the Beta/Test ones.

Beta/Test have a new character creation process that will bug out EQEmu.

Not to mention the shittiest implementation of DirectX 9 ever known to mankind.

I seem to be running into the same problem as he is. I have a few questions about it.

1. Is there any known work-around other than reinstalling?

2. If I reinstall, do I have to completely re-patch it? (the initial patching took about five hours for me, so y'know.)

3. If I have to patch it again, how do I go about making sure I get the right ones?

this is caused due to messed up files on your computer so reinstalling is by far easier then checking each and every file for the bad ones then trying to track down correct versions due to them being warz.


you have to repatch or you cant play.


I clicked every button for every expancion and I can play with no problem, make sure you run the complete file check a couple times too. This will also ensure when the next version comes out and you need to patch you wont have to change the settings to do it.
