if you run windows you can use the command prompt. heres how:
1.start 2.run 3. type in: cmd 4.once in the command prompt type in: ftp 5.once in ftp you can type in "help" without the quotation marks to see the various commands. |
OH! I figured it out go into Internet Explorer then type in ftp://data.formhoster.com then my user name and password thats all...

Unfortunitly my webhost was very unreliable and told me almost nothing besides my user name and pass then said you can use FTP! and im like.... wtf how do I do that, then I e-mail them and they didnt respond for 5 days finally when they did then they told me so I just stumbled around and found out.
BTW Mattmeck why did u just post ......... that rly means nothing and outerlimit I dont think you really know whats going on. You second basically nothing there. |
It's called an elipsis. When alone, it means "no comment."
I had trouble believing you would get a premium account with a web host (assuming that premium means you're paying for it) without having knowledge of how to get files to it. All good web hosts (read: not Angelfire or Geocities or crap like that) only have FTP for file transfers rather than a crappy web-based uploader. |

EXACTLY  |
No seriously I didn't pay for it I run a clan and one of my members donated money without me even asking them. And, they updated the forums to premium. Then, they didnt send me any information after words I asked the member that donated if he got an e-mail from them he only got the pay pal thing that says you paid so much money blah blah.... The info on FTP was not sent. I had to e-mail the people and ask them for the info. Apparently they were all off or something so I had to wait like 5 days or so before I got it. But, before I got the e-mail I noticed that someone else in their support forums had the same problem. They said hey why doesnt this work and they posted ftp.forumhoster.ftp and when I saw that I just worked on it a little and made it into ftp://ftp.forumhoster.com. Then that worked. Although I did try x-scythe's way. But that was a little confusing at first then I just tried a bunch of commands that I thought would make it work. I'm pretty sure you type in CMD, FTP, OPEN, forumhoster.com, type in username, type in pass, type in send, then type in the local file you want to send. But, I didnt know how to send it to a specific folder in there. So I pretty much gave up on that and tried to look around for an alternate route.
I never really noticed how crapy Angelfire was till I went to a webpage that had a collection of all the free webhosters. I went to some that waid PHP uploading and FTP once I learned how to FTP upload. FTP, now I think is so freaken ez compaired to webpage uploads, for a lot of reasons. |
