Custom Spells

I am about to start my own server, heavy in customization. Basicly i am looking for 2 things:

1. A program that lets me edit the zone files OR make new zone files (i understand that the user would need to download those first)

2. I know that custom items are possible, but are custom spells? and customing spell effects? If so could someone please post a link or something for me.

Thanks in advance!

Forum: 3rd Party Tools

1. OpenZone

2. Kaiyodo Spell Editor

You can edit spells, but in order for others to be able to use them they must download the same edited spells_x.txt file that the server is using. Unless you know how, spell effect editing is not possible.

Kaiyodos Spell Editor isn't compatible with the newer spells_us format. Use mine instead (see sig)

But as Aquelin already said, every player on your server has to download your spells_us.txt file for it to work.

keep in mind if you have custom spells then that u need to post a disclaimer telling ppl to back up their current spells_us .... becuz handing out the unaltered file is concidered warez

I doubt handing out the unaltered one is warez as it can be edited very easily with a text editor...

Dont need a disclaimer - just need to tell them if they want to play on your server you are using custom spells which means they'll need to download <soandso>.txt and replace <thisandthat>.txt

Plus anyone can get rid of a custom spells file by simply patching. Just like patching replaces your custom hosts file.
