EQEmu

I as wondering if any servers were looking for someone to help with customization, etc. I'm not a professional in any means, but working with the technical aspects of the game interests me. I would work on my own server, but I would rather work with someone who knows what they're doing. I'm interested in learning more. I don't want to be underfoot, but I do ask a lot of questions.

I don't want to seem like some fanboy, though I'm sure I do. I do want to persue a career in a similar field, and I'm always hungry to learn and do more. I have general backround knowledge in several areas, computer hardware, web design, graphic design, computer software (I sell it), and I'm always trying to tinker with server settings for anything I can get my hands on. I have no programming or coding knowledge that I am aware of. As of now I mainly game, and do graphic design.

Oh, and I'd also like to thank the EQEmu dev team for leaving the general setup process as it is. It helps weed out some people, and I do understand why they hate when people ask questions. Follow the tutorial, use your brain, it is fun to do. I'm glad the emulator is still a work in progress. It has spawned new interest in me.

Enough of my rambling. Anyone care to take me under their wing?

(Note: I apologize for not submitting an entry in the logo contest. I did not find out about it until the deadline had passed. I do still have ideas if anyone is interested.)

If I had a server running I'd love you to be on it. People who are interested in the development of the server, who love to learn and find it interesting and fun at the same time, not just a chore. I'm sure someone will take you. It would be nice to see someone helping with the server for the fun and learning other than "haha I'm a ServerOP on Soandso, and a GM on there haha".

I would recommend downloading the CVS and browsing through it. I know absolutely zero C++, but looking through the code I can see how some things have been done and have sucessfully managed to customize a few things. It is very interesting :)

You'll probably like learning Perl by the sounds of it, I would recommend looking into quests if I were you. I find that one of the most interesting things behind running the server.

Good luck,

The MW DB Team is always looking for people to help out, especially people who are eager to learn :)
There is usually someone around in the #npcmovdb irc channel.
Come on in, if there isn't someone active in channel, hang out for a bit someone will surface :)

OR contact me by email = tcsmyworld@projecteq.com and we can discuss what aspects of DB work would interest you.
