Bad username/password error.

EDIT: This problem has been fixed | Thread should be ignored

If you are registering a Loginserver username using AOL, cable modem or another wierd ISP that messes up your IP then you might not be able to log in due to a bad user/password error.

If you get the bad username/password error when you try to log in for the first time, Have a friend or online buddy Re-Authenticate the account for you by clicking Re-auth on the account creation page, entering the username and password, clicking Submit and then logging in using the successfully fixed account (has to be done on the same computer that re-authed it.

(**NOTE: Please do not message me with account fixes anymore hehe.)

Shawn319 04-19-2002 01:19 PM

You cant be the one to try it. you need someone elce to do it for you.

minoxcide 04-19-2002 01:21 PM

other comp

I tried it on another computer... but... that one sucks too

Does the person who resets your account haveto be using an ISP other than AOLor Cable

Shawn319 04-22-2002 02:27 PM

most cable modems work fine when registering/re-authing (Mine does, i'm using Road Runner). If that person cant do it, move along to someone elce hehe.

What exactly is the problem

Are we talking NAT addressing thats the problem? What about IP masquerading?

I could use a little more detail than just AOL/cable modem.

Shawn319 04-23-2002 06:42 AM

We dont know exactly what ISP/connection types do it but it seems to be most AOL subscribers.

It has to do with the Loginserver Registration page getting a differant IP than the one you use to log in for the first time (This is where it authenticates the account, when u log in for the first time)

If you register an account and then get the bad username/password when you try to log in (making sure you typed everything correctly and with correct caps) then you most likely have a IP that deceives the loginserver.

Duh

For others who still can't login... it's probably because they did not edit the eqhost file in their everquest directory...

It's still connecting to the real eq host, so naturally it won't accept your eqemu username and password because it's not the official verant one...

To log in, locate your EQHost file in your everquest directory and change it to this:

[Registration Servers]
{
"eqlogin.eqemu.org:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin.eqemu.org:5999"
}

That should fix it.

Cyberjunky: You *MUST* use your real IRC nickname.
You can also only register one account per IP address.

when i try to reset

Cyberjunky: Reset failed: Couldnt find account or password wrong!

im locked out either way.
