noob needing help...error 1002
 

I install EQ and did not patch a thing. I followed the guide to be able to play on emu servers but it says change my datarate.txt file but I do not have one. so i just skipped that part and did the rest but when i click on new account it says:

Error: 1002 You need to update files to ensure you have the correct version

What do i need to do to play? I have all the xp thru POP but nothing further is this hurting me?

You need to update your EQ to current and play on 5.7DR2 servers.

You need to patch to the current version of EQ Live first. Then back up your EQ folder (if you have a large enough hard drive).

That way, if you EQ is patched before a compatible version of EQEMu comes out you can just "de-patch" again.

but i thought you where not supposed to patch anything

You're not. Once you have a version that works with EQEMu. Right now though, EQEMu requires the latest version of EQ Live to work.

In the future though, as EQ Live continues to get patched, you don't want to get those patches until the EQEMu Devs (God bless their little hearts :D) have had a chance to get it working with EQEMu again.
