EQ classic server?
Id like to see a pre-kunark server
heres some ideas - a pre-kunark built just as hardcore as when eq was released (are hell lvls possible to put back in?) - druids and wizards who still have a job - laughing when you see a lvl 4 gnome in everfrost - no soul binders - nothing else that replaced class interdependency with npcs :) - no newbie quests - old UI :D - bronze armor sets still selling for 1k ...when 1k was uber :D (they go for what? 50pp for full set in bazaar? -No bazaar. the days of haggeling and trading in the east commons tunnel must come back! no more lifeless bazaar - groups rolling to see who gets the mino axe and admiring at the lucky guy who won - uber PGT's - planar armor :D - no kunark or velious, they totaly trivialized original world content -having to actually work to look uber - ill think of more theres tons of people on every eq forum that would come to this server in an instant |
Well, Ive told my friends plenty of times, that if Sony did 1 of 2 things I would start playing EQ again.
1. Completely old world server, all pre-kunark, spells and all. -OR- 2. Start off as old world, no new spells, no new equipment, but progress through Velious. (stop at velious). I would play whether this was PvP or not, but I do prefer a team or dark vs. light pvp, or factional pvp. |
Ah oldskoolers..
*grins* full crafted, and 2 SSOYS or a Exe axe. That was the pimp for a warrior. Kunark was ok actually- velious was alright too. I like Luclin, it didn't hurt but the Bazaar really messed up. Anything after luclin sucks ass. What'd I'd like to see is just up to velious but have the frogs and Vah shir ( having them start in the nexus ) Yes the nexus would be the only zone Luclin ( face it the nexus is a nice zone.. period / little lag and good place to afk ) Possibly make custom quest (that are very hard ) here. Possibly custom items too. Bring back the pally sword of death ( the 500/20 sword gotten in the plane of sky ) Yeah trash the noob quest. Trash the soul binders. But yet be more practical in the cities. One thing I wish would be loot tables that actually looted like a table. For instance you kill a derv in leather.. you should be able to salvage some of the leather you didn't shred with your blade . |
Ha, those are very good suggestions in my opinion. I like the nexus zone idea. Definetly add custom loot tables like the derv example. you kill a derv in leather, you expect to get a piece or 2 of leather from him.
Only lucllin zone that would be any good to see would be the nexus. nothing else. Nothing Past Velious!! Id be even happier if they made it only old school eq. |
Sadly you cannot bring back the old ui.. unless someone makes a old ui like skin for the new ui.. but it's still the new ui.
|
No nexus.
kunark was nice, but before kunark uber was like +15 hp item, and by velious +50 was just as uber for the same levels. |
we're just posting ideas for any ambitious server op that would like to make a server.

just a lil question here.. about the old UI.. if you where to install just orig EQ.. and NOT patch it or anything, wouldnt that work, sure it would be buggy as hell.. but take like the EQ that came with Kunark its updated kinda ok with bugs and all that crap, and just dont install Kunark, just orig EQ.. dont patch make everyone use that version and run off that?
---- Another Question of mine would be.. are you guys gonna have a EQ2 Beta EMU =D lol, just wondering lol. |

That will not work, why? Because users have a differant version of EQ Classic, no one has the same patch. You would have to patch EQ Classic to Live so everyone has the same patch, which that will include the new UI. And handing out the patch files from the classic without patching, is warez and not allowed here. I bought my classic EQ when it came out in march of '99, if someone bought it in novemeber '99, they have a differant version. That come out good? :P Hope I didn't confuse no one, hehe. |
ah very true ~
