alrite so ive been trying to connect to EQEmu for about a week now

im up to the point where im stuck at the LOGGING INTO SERVER screen and i understand that i must wait for the devs to update the emulator before i can try it out since i patched post jun22nd

thats no problem but all this waiting and screenshot viewing and studying on this pretty cool offspring of a mmorpg has aroused some questions in me

i'll number them and ask them as i think of them, answers to any that you can would be appreciated if ya got time )

1 ive noticed in SS's seeing people hitting for 800s with 1hs's, can you create your own item? or do ya gotta be some kinda PC genius to figure out something like taht, i saw a guy with 32k hp and 1500 all resists holy crap you know how much fun i could have hehe

2 if i make my own server are there downloads that i can get to add a substantial amt of zones items mobs spawns, i dont want to half ass anything

3 can anyone make a server off any computer? right now im just on roadrunner if ISP matters

4 im playing EQEmu to get away from EQ, most of the servers are NON legit right? no one really wants to level do they? that'd jsut be sad, i got 65 44aa and alts with 300-400k worth of gear a piece in EQLive on Sullon Zek I DONT WANT TO PLAY ANYMORE I WANT TO SOLO GODS ETC!!!! so most of the servers are non legit?? and if not...

5 corresponding to question 4---- how hard is it to set up and customize a server according to ur spects if ur not a programer etc



well its 4am right now and i cant think of anything else right now.

i'll be back to check this and continue my question list, feel free to post any questions you have about EMU if youre in my same predicament and have never played =/

I tried to run my own with an AMD 2.4 GH and 2 Gig Ram with Road Runner, I could host 10 people as long as they stood there and chatted, could hold 4 people fighting / casting spells as long as i didnt even look at the computer, could hold me and 1 other person if i was on that computer. You need a dedicated Server with better then cable to have a server for more then a handfull of people.


Play what ya want personaly semi and non legit bored me in a week, its the legit servers that are fun, still fun as heck and some have a Max LV of 130+ ( which you can get to in days if you play hardcore )


Its not, the best servers out here are run by Devs or teams of programmers / scripters ect ect ect.

hmm thanks a TON matt, i think i'll prolly try to setup some stuff today to create my own server when they do get EQEmu compatible with post jun22nd patch

i still will come up with more questions about just basic gameplay and will continue to post em here )

6 oh! i just thought of one. (it may sound dumb and im pretty sure the answer is yes but i want to be sure) i can setup the whole server thing in my current EQEmu folder right? i dont have to make a third hehe?

You dont even have to have EQ installed on the client computer.

it seems that lots of people are hung up from this june 22nd patch

so that got me to thinking that surely this has happened before, so since im just sitting here doing nothing when i should be emulatin all ova da place?!

yea i dont know what that was about, anyway i was wondering how long it usually takes for the devs to update from a problem like that? dont mean to sound ungrateful or anything... since i havent done SQUAT so support the entire EQEmu program besides help fill up your forums but....

i figured that the guys that have been around a while could tell me how long it usually takes for things like this to get fixed since as i said before its probably happened before

QUESTIONS NUMBER 7

is there any type of hardware i can buy for my computer so that i can run a server smoothly?? and maybe it would keep my server up even when im not playing??

im thinking there is.... maybe i could even leach a link off one of u guys =D

8 ) on pvp servers are there safe zones, i know on sullon zek (pvp 1-65 evil, newt. good team. cant group with anyone not on your team and lose exp if killed from someone within 5 lvls of you) i got a 65mage and the PoKnowledge Nexus Bazaar are safe zones, (no pvp) if i made my server pvp could i make ZERO safe zones?

9) in EQEmu can i make it where i can kill the NPCs in PoKnowledge

10) i solo'd the Priest of Discord with a mage with 1700hp, i thought i'd add that, feel free to worship me, (also during the fight a lvl 50 ranger attacked me and i killed him too) roflmao

Ram lots and lots of Ram, you need a dedicated computer or 3 for the server in order to host a stable server for lots of people, also need a better then cable internet connection it will be your connection that is the issue.
Sure just code it in, or there may be a place to adjust this in the DB.
