idea for a server

Thought it would be neat if there was a server that was made sort of like Morrowind. What I mean by this is simply to have 1 long quest that you start at low level and work your way through as you level. I don't know if the emu would support this, but have it work somewhat like flagging. For instance say part 4 of the quest involved you going to mistmoore and slaying a named mob. After slaying this named mob you would loot a peice of loot and turn it in to your guildmaster (or some npc). When you did this it would unlock a higher level zone, as well as part 5 of the quest. Of course there would be plenty of side quests still doable, and plenty of area's to go to to get loot, exp, side quests, etc.

I imagine this would take ALOT of work to do, if it would even be possible Just thought Id post about it while it still seemed like a good idea.

Its definitely possible with the current quest code. You would probably have to add a little custom code to unlock a zone based on a quest, but it wouldn't be too hard.

good idea!!

i currently play morrowind when i'm not in the mood for EQ...another thing which would be cool is the class creation system.... i know it is impossible to make your own class on EQ, but it would be very nice : ) for what its worth, when i play morrowind i don't really do a lot of the main quest at one time. I enjoy going treasure hunting and just exploring....just got my stronghold for all my loot the other day...if anyone wants to know about morrowind or anything you can PM me. cyas later

Morrowind is an excellent game, I have it on Xbox, Game of the Year edition. Superb game.

However, if there was a EQEmu server based on one long story line, it would not work.

As Zekkez has said, he usually goes exploring and treasure hunting. You cannot explore Everquest . We've all been everywhere there is to go, and will never find a new zone. This would mean everyone would focus on the main quest, and once this has been completed, why would people continue to play?

Another thing is, in Morrowind, you don't have any Player - Player interaction, only NPC - Player. This means there is no fighting over loots or grouping. One of the main parts of Everquest is grouping, and player-player interaction.

I know you mean you wouldn't follow the Morrowind storyline completely, and that there would be custom items and custom factions, basically a fully custom server, and I'm not saying I want no one to try this - I'd love to see someone try to make this kind of server, but I think it has been done before, and collapsed.

With enough work, it could be done, but it would need new content being added all the time, would need to be fully customized, and would need lot of time and energy to make players stay on the Server.

Oh - and one hell of a quest team, and Lore writers.

If anyone tries to make a server like this, I wish them the best of luck, and will probably check in and see how it's going, maybe even help if I get free time :p

Thanks.

Actually... you can, you just can't create more than 16 base classes. We have almost all Custom made classes on EQA, with the execption of a few like druid which we kept, but when you log into our server and do a /who all (assuming you have used our patcher as you should have) you will see all sorts of different class names, Sorcerer, Psionic, Priest... And all of our spell database is customized, as well as quite a few items, goto http://eqa.eqemulator.net and navigate your way to our fourms to see what all we have.

As for morrowind type server, i think it would be fun =).
