Truth told I'm fairly confused what the hell is going on with the rules regarding that specific EQ link. I'll ask the team.

sotonin 09-09-2004 06:39 AM

Ya, thats not really an illegal link at all.. it's sony's servers.... somehow i don't think it is against the rules.

This has nothing to do with this thread but Vellious Vision is a Legit/Raiding server?

I thought i logged on and was able to buy all this equipment and stuff, that isnt legit is it?

My opinion on this eq files link, i dont see a problem if it comes straight from the program company. It does require you to sign up for a 30 day trial or something.

Melwin 09-09-2004 09:16 AM

Word on the street is that it's allowed.

Scorpx725 09-09-2004 09:27 AM

I agree with the above... its sony giving it out, I dont see what the problem is. It isnt a person from the Emu hosting the files them selves.

I don't think thats why its allowed. I quote the rules:

This is not a Sony FTP rather a signup. So the FTP Direct Link is still against the rules.

ryder911 09-09-2004 11:57 PM

I thought that giving out that link was warez. It wasn't allowed about 2 weeks ago and now it is?

Magika 09-10-2004 02:47 AM

theyre trying to argue the fact that since this link isnt an FTP link, that it isnt against the rules.. which is bull, but whatever the project is going to hell in a handbasket anyways

and looking at the link.. it appears its against sony's rules as well ;)

All game-play during the 30-day period of gameplay included with this offer may only take place on the EverQuest server named Morden Rasp.

The question is whether or not it is considered warez, not whether or not SOE minds it being used to play on emu servers. An FTP reference is a direct link, whereas this is an indirect link through SOE. The first may or may not be considered warez, but the latter really cannot be.

sotonin 09-10-2004 04:14 AM

in exactly the same way we are allowed to link to server with patchers websites. but not directly to the patcher download link or page.
