Formatting pc-Burning EQEMu folder to dvd

Ok, before I do this I have one question. Since im going to be starting fresh, could I burn the contents of my working EQEMU folder to disk, then reinstall EQ on my new hard drive and copying over existing files with my burned EQEMU files? I have patched up to the Dec 15th patch and have everything working, so I would hate to lose all that. If this will not work, are there alternatives? Thanks in advance:)

I totally recommend that you burn your EQEmu folder to CD/DVD, as it's always good to have a backup. Though I'm not sure why you'd then wanna reinstall and patch? Unless you're wanting to play EQLive, that seems unnecessary. Even if you do want to play eqlive, don't bother reinstalling. Just patch.

If you're going to backup your EQEmu folder, be sure to back it ALL up. Don't get selective and backup just EXE's or DLL's, as occasionally SOE makes a huge change to the engine that might render certain UI files and such incompatible. Back everything up, including contents of subfolders underneath the main EQ folder.

[Edit: I reread your post and see you're doing a new hard drive. If that's the case, there's no need to "install" EQ on the new hard drive -- just copy the folder from your DVD. EQ doesn't make any system files in Windows folder or anything like that -- everything it needs to play the game is self contained inside the EQ folder and its subfolders.]

BE SURE TO VERIFY YOUR DVD BURNED OKAY BEFORE TAKING THE BIG PLUNGE!!! :D

Thanks a bunch, that takes a lot off my mind. I feel for the people waiting for the issues going on with live support and I dont want to deal with that. Thanks again.
