Got a few questions
 

Hey all...Got a few questions. First off i've played Everquest since pretty much launch. Wanted to know how to get this running..>If u could give me a link pointing me in the direction of this, that would be great. or how to get it working so i can death touch Trakanon and such! Thanks!

I swear... why does every new person to EQEmu go straight to forums and posts asking how to play, instead of looking on home page, or using search.

No im not mad. Just pointing it out. Which is why I think the post about a FAQ sticky is a good idea... Apparently you have to be here for a bit to realize how helpful it is. But anyway, to the thread starter: Best bet is to look on home page or do a search in the forums. It is easy to find and should be much shorter time than asking for help on the forums.

If you ask me the stuff for someone new to the site is hard to find... Should be a big thing saying, How to Play on EQemu, and how to set up a server...

Im just going to act like I did not read that.... for all who want to know how to play and/or setup a server, please go to http://www.eqemulator.net/main.php (homepage) and look to your right....

I have to say..The answers to probably 99.999% of all the questions one would need to ask are here in the forums. I also have to say that its a long hard search to find them. They are there but you will find answers in outdated posts. You will need to find similar posts to find more up to date answers ect...As for going to the Main page and trying to set up a server...
Id like to see that happen. LOL...I understand the frustration but I also understand that we are dealing with a dynamic game here! If one puts all his time and effort to create a tutorial theres no garantee that it wont be outdated the next day..The only thing one can do therefore is to remain active in the forums..And learn to search and read just about every post he can!

I used the FAQ and Play Guide myself, and it didn't help me at all actually, so I wouldn't be getting angry at people who cannot figure it out, because I still can't either, ;\

If you come here and try to get your server running and fail, please don't come back after 30 days and try again to get help. Everything you need is here, spend your time surfing similar problems and looking over others problems and help them with areas you may not have had problems with. Become an active member and your patience will be rewarded with knowledge. I have been using EQEMU for a very long time now (Much longer than my reg date) Simply because even before I registered I had lurked and learned all I could and now I try and lend a hand where I can. My server is for me personaly and I really appreciate all the work the teams put into it. And over the last couple years we have come a long way.

A really good suggestion I can offer that should at least get you up and running is to search the forums for the installer Cavedude and his team put out. You may not learn a whole lot about the emulator... but you should get up and running. And the database that he offers in that file is very nicely done.

Can kinda agree bout being active, I mean when I started I checked 2-3 times a day, got help. Problem is to people who've been on game forums, and stuff, they expect more direct quick results. While in this, h8 to say it you might be w8ing for a week for help.
