Old versions of EQemu
 

Is there anyway to compile the older version up but stop befor velious so u got kunark and norrath, so u got everything from back then i see the freequest is back from then any thought ?

I really think that is crazy... come on, why run that when you can have all of this.

I believe sourceforge might have freequest up, I do not know... been so long, freequest I had only played a few times...

Yeah, at 2001 I got my copy of EQ, and my account... before then I just played on someone elses account, who let me on as I played, and my playing helped their character level up hehe.

Anyway... my first MMORPG I started playing was EQ I believe, yeah, EQ, then I got my UO... now I am up to EQ2 and SWG.

Even though I was one of the few who was fortunate to have broadband since 1998 in a home setting, I had not taken full advantage of it until around 2001-2002. I had to get broadband (heh, price dropped about 4 times since then...) because of the phone wires, the lines that come into the street I live on are poor quality, and the dialup quality was, if I was lucky, bah, enough of that talk... most of the time I couldnt get on, and I "needed" the 'net, and back then, boy, I remember when I finally got a 1mbit connection lol, it used to be about 256k when I first got it, now I have a 11mbit line ;)

I support your desire for everquest, but sometimes it is time to move on... times have changed, so much has changed and improved... in my honest opinion, if what you want are the old graphics, maybe you can copy over the old models? I do not know if that is possible, but that might give you some of the feel of the classic EQ that you wanted.

I highly doubt that anyone will be able to play with you if you are running freequest, many people are either on 6.x servers, on Squeaker/Scorpious2k on the 5.8 I believe it is, or have patched to live and do not know where to look, and are there waiting for the emu to catch up to live.

By the way, I feel like the freeze is a good thing, fix bugs before any new ones are created... good idea... and I support it.

Ui when i got it didnt have most of this stuff i have done bits to it my self and i not linking it untill the finished projected. Anyways back on the subject please would like some info by a dev if its possible.

I agree I like this one much better please link it. This one is way better looking then the one that EQ use's as the default now.

If you see the Freequest source, you are welcome to take it and download it and do what you like with it.

However, it will not be supported by development here. Judging by the current devs' join dates, if you've looked at the Freequest code, then you are probably more familiar with it than they are.

The hardest part is gonna lie in the fact that you (probably) don't have a client from that era, and they're gonna be a little hard to come by. You're not gonna be able to make your year-2005 client look and feel exactly like that year-2001 client -- Sony has changed too much in the fundamental parts of the client that there's no hope of that. (And at this time I'll give a gentle reminder about the rules of this forum. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you'd best go read them before you get yourself in trouble.)

If all you want is for there to be kunark and velious zones -- and ONLY kunark and velious zones -- available, then just flag all other zones as GM-only, by changing their minstatus field in the zone table of your database.

That is a very cool UI, brings back so many memories of staring at my spell book and getting smaked in the back of the head by that stupid wearwolf whiles camping bandits. Anyway... good luck on setting up that server, it will be very neet to see done.

Your looking for a database, not an actual eqemu version. Every Eqemu version supports every zone. The CONTENT (Spawns, Mobs, Items, etc) are determined by the database.
