Changing skeleton graphics
Have tried searching through the Wiki and the forums about changing the graphics on skeletons - but I'm unable to find anything that definatively states either way if this can be done. Has a definative way been found to do this yet? (I'd like to use the same models as EQLive and am wondering if this were possible)

Maybe this will help..
http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/sho...ghlight=models If you find the skeleton model you want. Then you can get info on its race. (I forget what the new skelly race is) You might have to force load the model into some zones though..I dont know |
Thanks - that's exactly what I was looking for - that will help a ton!

I've been tweaking various mobs - and I notice that some of the new models show up as humans - and others only show part of the model as though what was included on the titanium CD's were sent out incomplete to be patched later.
Forgive me for asking - not being a graphics programmer - are the meshes for the mobs and items stored in each of the zone files? Also - how does one go about figuring out the new models (the new zombie models for instance) - and assign them a number to be accessed and used by the emulator? |
Yes the meshes are stored in zone files. But there are also what are called global models wich any zone can load.
I dont know how to find the new models races. Maybe somebody knows. But you may have to try to figure out how to force load. It may be possible that the models are incomplete. Patching do alot of things. Thats why emu never worked from a CD before. There was no way to know if the CDs were even playable on their own. There were many CD versions. They were all patched befor gameplay. Titanium I guess was something the Devs thought was consistant and complete enough to try to make work without patching. There is a model viewer here.. http://66.159.225.58/eqemu/eq.html Maybe you can tell if the model you want is in the zone. You want to be looking at the _chr files. Its hard to look at them cause I guess the vertices need to be weighted and the viewer dont do that. So the bodies seem to show colapsed or crunched up. Unless Im not using the viewer correctly. |
What I've noted so far is:
1.) Snakes have at least 2 new models - one looks like a rattlesnake where the graphics/scales have been edited, the other looks like a black/red snake (not sure what species it's supposed to be - but this is the one that's listed in the race index) - so I'm unable to get snakes using the same graphics as EQLive. 2.) New orc models load without wearing any pants or a belt (they look quite funny this way!) 3.) If you try using the new puma model - you get a human model instead When I've completed toying with the models - I can post the changes (maybe in the Wiki) about what I could get to work properly. Forgot to add - I'm most definately working with a clean install of titanium; mysql 4.0.23 and pre-compiled EQEmu-0.7.0-857 (downloaded from the main homepage). I do however have access to EQLive as well - so I can try fiddling around with both sets of files to see what I can discover. |
