Is login server down?

I've spent the last hour attempting to get my server going with a public login (got the minilogin working great!). I'm pretty sure I have the config files done correctly and I've forwarded 9000 TCP and 7000-7150 UDP to the server box. I put the LS account name and password into the XML file (the loginserver.ini says to NOT put them there).

When I start up, I get an error saying wrong account name and password...

I thought perhaps I'd goofed with the account password (using the one listed in the LS account listings, not the board password) so I created a second account and changed the XML file to match (I KNOW I have the right account/pass now!)

I tried again and same error... So I took a wander over to the server listing and I see there are NO servers up!

So, is the login server down and its not just me being a dork (yet)?

Oops... I guess this should have gone into general support.. Oh well, half-a-dork proven anyway.

LS account isn't for made your server, it was for play.
You don't need to put them in configuration files...
If you want a Server Operators Account, try here :
http://www.eqemulator.net/server_reg.php
but you don't need a Server Operators Account
for use login server with your everquest server.

ps= login server is up i'm on it :)

Hmm, ok - so I'm in the dark about logins. I better move to the support forum and ask people to tape the answer to my forehead ;)

You shouldn't need to put a username/password in your eqemu_config.xml. At least, I have never had to. I created the server operator account for my server (long ago so I cannot recall how or why I did it), set my variables LoginType to "public", pointed the <loginserver> XML to eqemulator.net:5998, and it all worked pretty much out of the box.

Poke around the Wiki or the forums some more. There are many examples of precisely what the eqemu_config.xml should look like for Minilogin -and- Public servers.

Also note, if you hook your server to the Eqemulator LS and do not lock it, we are all able to login and create naked female wood elf toon corpses. ;)

Lol, I did register my server after creating the LS account and I thought that registration pass etc was what I needed to use to connect the server.

I did as directed above and left the name/pass out completely which resulted in it showing up in the loginserver listing.

Got a different problem now - going to support forum where I should have been in the first place.

Actually, I meant the server listing from the main page here. I guess its not actually implemented yet or perhaps its broken.

OH..Thats old and not used anymore. Servers are supposed to register on wiki now. But its not mandatory so its not a way to tell what servers are active or not. Its not connected to the "real" server list anymore.
