mysql 4.0.23
I'm looking for the mysql 4.0.23 setup file since, apparently, mysql is no longer supporting / hosting it.
Does anyone have a copy that you can direct me to or email it to dwmaze [at] gmail [dot] com ? Thanks in advance |
Why use 4.0.23? 5 is easy to work with, and if you must have a 4.0 go with the supported one. Is there any reason why you want to use 4.0.23 over the others?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it is still the 'suggested' MySQL for the emulator... I know many people still use at least 4.0.23 so even if it's not supported on the MySQL sites, it is still supported in this community in so far as the compatibility of the emulator...
That being said, moving to the newer stuff is 'typically' better and I believe someone (cavedude no?) had posted some potential bench mark related stuff with the engines suggesting 5+ is better for larger servers and 4.1 was better for small servers making me wonder what 4.0.23 would be good for... but to each their own. |
No need to tear into me... Anyway, there was a poll on MySQL choices.

You're right SQL 4.0 is what's recommended, but the problem is, you can't find it anywhere!
So you have to find what's out there, and I went for the latest at the time; MySql 5x. MySql 4.1x is fine ( I have used it too), but MySql 5x handles innoDB tables better (probably does more than that). As for what you can do, and what you need - here's a test I made; http://eqemulator.net/forums/showpos...1&postcount=10 The newbee's are going to have to change, like it or not. and sometime soon, they'll be posting they can't find MySql 4.1 either. So, you might as well as get the newest MySql you can find, learn how to use it. |
