Server v0.7.0-989 install help

Tried searching, but didn't find anything usefull, so here goes ...

What database is recommended? And were to get it?

Does anyone have a guide to installing v0.7.0-989 of the emu with the before mentioned question in mind? Or at least be willing to take an existing guide and modifying it?

I already have MySQL v4.0.23 and ActivePerl v5.8.7 build813 installed.

Also emu v0.7.0 with cavedude's DB are installed ... allthough these I plan on removing alltogether ... unless otherwise is suggested.

Kind regards
Herold

Well project EQ is the most accurate

http://www.projecteq.net/

Angelox has a database that is very nice as well... combo of some plus his own work... if you find a post by him, hes got the link in his sig.

To update to the newest EQEMU you need to source one of those databases, then run the required SQL for the updates for your server... stick maps for aggro... thats all in the Wiki.

The required sql is also in the changelog (downloaded with binaries)

Or... check GeorgeS's site, hes got a list of all the req. sql.

Theres pleanty of info on setting a server up, check the wiki tho...

With regards to the change-logs .... from 0.7.0 to 0.7.0-989, isn't there a buttload of required SQL to do? Wouldn't it be easier to reinstall the lot?

Otherwise good advice, I will definately look into it, thanks Wiz.

PEQ has opened up their CVS to the public, so long as you get their latest database, you should have no problems and no need to source updates. I keep my databases up to date also.

This is where I admit to being a n00b ... what is CVS? And what do I do with it?

Here. read Cavedude's post and you can learn from there.

He's the bossman for PEQ.

I checked out the thread ... and got even more confused ... is CVS a kind of FTP? And by the looks of it ... isn't there an easier way? I am not looking to update my server that frequently, so maybe CVS would be overkill for me? I would love for the guildhall and the atlas to work though?!?

Being such a n00b as I am, maybe I should just reinstall from scratch ... Would Installer Pack 3.6 by Cavedude be of any use?

Guild halls are a bit far off imo, they are instanced based upon your guild, and the server just cant do that yet.

CVS basically is a way to keep their files in sync for a large group of people on a client / server setup, so they can have more control over it...

heres some info on peq's cvs - this is the same thread that angelox posted just on the PEQ fourms, and has some other search results on their fourms if you have continued problems.

with that it shouldent be too hard to set up since the database is current

I do believe this CVS is too advanced for me, sadly ... but if I am going to install 0.7.0-988 or 0.7.0-989 ... what database would be compatible and where would I go about downloading it?
