How do I know if I'm patching live or not?
I followed the instructions in the Play Guide by modifying the EQHost.txt file to point to "Host=eqemulator.net:5998" and added patchme onto the target in the exe shortcut. I did this before ever running everquest (and thus never before patching). I run the shortcut I created and it shows the SOE screen and downloads a bunch of files, then what looks like a live patcher comes up and it asks me for my station name. I tried the name I made in step 3 anyway (the login server account) and it said it was invalid. I tried making a station name and then logged in and it said I wasn't signed up for EQ, asked if I wanted to do a trial (confirming that it IS the live patcher).
I understand that I'm going to have to uninstall/install again before I can get this to work, by my question is what did I do wrong? I looked through the forum/wiki a bit but I didn't see anyone mentioning this problem. The only thing that I can think of is that I did not install everquest to the default file location (Mine is in F:\Everquest rather than C:\ProgramFiles\Sony\Everquest). Would this matter? Am I totally missing something? Edit: And I AM using Titanium, not another version. |
Sounds like you started the game with everquest.exe instead of eqgame.exe. You need to make sure you created the shortcut on the eqgame.exe and even if you created it wrong, as long as it was made on the eqgame.exe, it can't patch, because you will get the message saying to run everquest.exe if you didn't setup the shortcut properly.
So, make sure that the shortcut you made wasn't linking to everquest.exe. |

"F:\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme This will prevent it from patching to live! |
You were right, I was going off of the wrong exe. Everything works great now. Thanks for the help.
