Mysql error
Lets try again....
Here is my config file contents: <?xml version="1.0"> <server> <world> <shortname>Oasis</shortname> <longname>Oasis Revisited</longname> <!-- Only specify these two if you really think you need to. Anyway, I click on the Start.bat and a couple windows flash so fast that I cant see them. Here are the error logs: --------------------------------------------- [08.22. - 16:39:08] Starting Log: logs/eqemu_error_world_3516.log [08.22. - 16:39:08] Failed to connect to database: Error: #1045: Access denied for user 'eq'@'localhost' (using password: YES) So then I also used the cmd line to try to get world.exe to start that way, after reading about the thousandth+ post on here.... http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...mandwindow.jpg Any idea's what's going on? |
Looks like you didn't grant yourself access to the database. Try this
Code:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO root@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'password' WITH GRANT OPTION; root and password can be changed to your username and password for mysql |
Ok, tried that, with and without the quotes on the first on root@localhost. Still does the same thing with the same error messages

You have your config file using eq as the user name? Change it to root. Or I guess you could grant privileges to the eq user...
Access denied for user 'eq'@'localhost' (using password: YES) ... oh yeah, be careful who you show that password too :) |
no, my user name isnt eq, its root. i even used the find function to see where every reference to eq was, and it isnt in any of the places that would cause an error, as far as i can tell.
The password is unique and will be changed. password is the least of my worries. |
This is the place I was talking about, in the config file
Code:
<!-- Database configuration, replaces db.ini. Defaults shown --> |
Ok, I see you have that set right... it's obvious a database connection... did you try a reboot after installing mysql? I know... sorry, im an IT guy :)
Just go over all the database stuff again, you must have missed a step. |
I just noticed that you also looked for help in the minilogin forum... you won't be able to easily switch between the two login types... you need to set it up one way or the other.
|
Someone moved my post to the mini-login forum. I dont know why.
Also, I was trying to set it up on a LAN at first, but after i un-installed and re-installed everything, I decided to do the public servers first, like the guide said to do. Also, ive re-installed Mysql a few times, trying different versions because ive read a few posts in these forums about downgrading seeming to help some people. Ive tried a few different versions, and install all of them while going over the guide. And yes, I always restart after I install or un-install everything to clean out memory. |
My guess is that the config file you are using is the one that ends in "xml.full". You need to remove the .full from there for it to work. Which also means you either have to delete the short version config file or rename it first.
You definitely have the account portion setup incorrectly somewhere, since it is reporting that it is trying to use eq as the login ID instead of root. You may want to just try configuring the short version of the config file. It has much less in it, but basically the same functionality. If you are planning to setup a public server, I highly recommend that you change your mysql password ASAP. You don't want people hacking your database and ruining your server... I removed it from your first post of your config, but I see you have a screenshot with it as well. So, just change it. Another thing you might want to know is that you should change this: Code:
<defaultstatus>20</defaultstatus> Code:
<defaultstatus>0</defaultstatus> I am the one that moved your post on trying to setup Mini-Login to the mini-login section. That is what that section is there for. There are some pretty common issues when setting it up and the people that read that section often are more likely to be able to help out with mini-login problems. |
Your Mini-Login set up is not right, read here to set it up.
Also, if you installed MySql in windows as root, it defaults to 'no password'. If you use a password, it will give you the 'wrong password' error. try root with no password. |
