Comparing EQEmu and SoD (technical, not gameplay related)
 

Although this has to do with SoD (usually an off-topic related post), the true meat of this is about the technical aspects of trying to get the EQEMu client to run a bit better. If I have placed this in the wrong forum, apologies.

So I decided to try out SoD the other day since I have a craptastic computer and PEQ has decided to run even slower on my machine (which isn't that great anyways) at 5 FPS when 2-boxed on PEQ.

I was surprised that I could get 2 instances of SoD up and running at any single time and both ran at like 40 FPS.

So my question is this ... I know SoD runs on an older emu based as evidenced by the intro screen with the berserkers. However, the differences in FPS/playability are so vast, that I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to configure my client to run EQEmu a bit better?

It's the client, Titanium is an hog fest. SoD client is Planes of power at the time when u could run it on pent 2. Eqemu will never run that smooth because of this, The only way you going to get it to run that smooth is to update your computer.

Really you can turn the graphic settings down, I get similar frame rates between the two clients.

The biggest issue is that due to there being simply more content in the newer clients the memory consumption is larger and pretty noticeably larger. If your computer doesn't have a lot of ram it will hit a wall a lot faster with the current clients than with SoD's client.
