Itemlinks and Saylinks in Popup Windows

Is it possible to use itemlinks and saylinks from a popup window? I have tried using the following code which should work:

my $linkitem = "<a WndNotify=\"27,007D96000000000000000000000000000000000000000\">Centi Longsword</a>";

quest::popup("Item link", "$linkitem");

This shows the popup window and has a clickable link, but when you click the link, nothing happens. I tried testing out a saylink
in the popup window and the same thing happened: it showed the link and you can click it but when you do, nothing happens.

I have tried to get them working in Popups as well, but haven't figured out how to do it yet. I only tried in SoF though, so not sure if Titanium would work or not. Here is a thread with a bit of info about doing it:
