Bot Question/Request
 

I was wondering would it be possible to use existing characters as bots? Allowing me to the option of playing a character vs. having it being a bot.

Since bots have an inventory like a normal player, you could create a bot that has a copy of a char's inventory in the db.

I don't think there's a command to do this in game though.

Bots don't track XP and have preset abilities based upon their level.

I assume your reason for this request is so you can level a second character with it being run as a bot. To accomplish this, a lot of code would have to be added to the bot code and a lot of additional information would have to be stored about each bot. The amount of effort this would take is not trivial.

If you have some other reason for wanting to do this, please elaborate.

Yeah thats basically it. I'd like to see the option of playing a character or botting it. There are other ways of accomplishing this, but I wanted to ask to see what other people thought of implementing it this way.

I agree, this is doable but it would be a significant development effort. If you decide to try it, I wish you good luck and let us know what you come up with.

Ah, well I probably don't have the programming skills to bring a project like this to completion. But I still might give it a shot.
