First person outside my LAN who tried to connect to my server, it fails.

Here's what he told me.

well i got it in windowed so i can see it cause it messes up in fullscreen
and it goes black
then goes non responsive after like 30 seconds
then eventually if i let it sit it takes me back to login
I already heard that it might be a port forwarding issue, the computer with the server on it has a static IP now and the ports are forwarded. The person installed the game off of a legal copy of Titanium, didn't patch. Even the first time around when he DID patch he was able to connect to every EQemu server except mine. That's still the case. Are there any other things that may be causing a problem like that?

I am using the public loginserver, by the way, and there are already 3 people from my LAN who can connect and play just fine. I don't see why only other people on the LAN should be able to connect to something that's hosted on the public loginserver at all.

You still have a port forwarding issue it seems. What port ranges did you forward? And, are you running a firewall?

Ports 5998 and 3306 are forwarded on the computer that holds the server, 5998 is excepted on the firewall, as well as all the server-related programs being allowed.

You need to forward ports 7000-7100 (by default) for zones as well.

You can change this port range in eqemu_config.xml if you want it to use a different range for zones.

Port 5998 is not required to be forwarded by servers. Also, 3306 is not required, that is only for allowing outside access directly to your MySQL database.

You need 7000-7100 and 9000 port RANGE forwarded from your router to your server. Without those, people will not be able to connect from outside your LAN.

That port is not necessary. I haven't ever seen that in relation to EQ. If anything, it might be a required port for playing that the clients need to have, but is not required for connecting to a server. For playing, as long as the client has port 5998 available for use, they should be ok to connect as long as the server has the correct ports open. Since the client is using port 5998 coming from inside the LAN going out, it is not at all needed to do any special port forwarding. Though, sometimes firewalls might need to have such ports open for clients. From the client prospective, as long as port 5998 is not being blocked (by a proxy or whatever if they are trying to play from work or a dorm or something), they shouldn't have to do anything with ports.
