Setup

Just recently got everything set up so that I can play. But having trouble figuring out how to install the necessary data files for PEQ the Grand Creation. I am assuming a lack of experience on my part.

Also, Have noticed a problem with some flickering when playing. I have a wide screen monitor. Any suggestions?

Thank You

I think maybe the FAQ in my sig might be able to help answer some of your questions. Are you trying to run your own server, or just wanting to play on PEQ? If you just want to play on PEQ, I am not sure what data files you are referring to. To play, all you have to do is follow the play guide.

The screen flickering you mentioned may be due to a dual-core CPU problem, which is covered in the FAQ if you check it out.

Thank you for the feedback. For right now all I am looking to do is play and also to get my wife who has never experienced EQ to play.

I think I ultimately will start my own server just for the fun of trying to figure it all out.

The two downloads I am referring to are the data base download and the quests download. If I am understanding you correctly I shouldn't need to do any patching to play PEQ?

As for my processor I am running an Intel Celeron 2.5 Ghz processor with 2 Gig. Also running an ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series.

Going to take a look at your references regarding dual processors.

Thank you

You don't need the source code or quests download if all you want to do is play. You can just follow the simple guide here:

And yes, no patching, or you won't be able to play.

Thank you for the advice.
I read up a little more and set my video to 1024x768 and that did away with the flickering problem.
I still think the video is looking kind of grainy to me and it also seems that the graphics are running too fast like the clock speed is too high or something.
Any advice on getting a cleaner image?
