New Player - Guide from Getting Started from Right out of the Box This guide will tell you what to do, to get started playing on Titanium Edition. Step 1 - Buying the Game -----------(DONE)------------- To out to your local game store, computer store, what ever, and buy a Titanium copy of the game(Not Platinum or any other expansion). The game retails at around $20 in the US, considering how many expansions it comes with... which probably doesn't matter to you yet, considering you are new, and if you are reading this, you likely never played EQ Live or EQEmu. I PLAYED FOR 7 YEARS :p :p Step 2 - Installing the Game --------------(DONE)----------- If you can't do this, you should honestly not even be trying. Put disk 1 in your DVD/CD ROM drive. Setup will appear on screen. Follow the directions given to you by the setup application. DO NOT RUN THE GAME AFTER YOU INSTALL IT UNTIL STEP 6 Step 3 - Changing the EQHost file Click 'Start', go to 'Run', type in, 'C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\eqhost.txt' Modify the file to look like [LoginServer] Host=eqemulator.net:5998 Very easy to do and .......---------(DONE)--------- Save and close. ----------(DONE)------------ Step 4 - Creating the Shortcut I'm assuming you know how to make a shortcut on the desktop. Make a new shortcut, I recommend you do it on the desktop, but where ever you want is fine. The Target should be '"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme' NOW THIS HERE is easy to i need to put a space before writing patchme though..... ANYWAYS --------(DONE)---------- That is it for getting on, now you need a login server account. OH YEAH ? really Great ..... Step 5 - Creating your Login Server Account Go to The Forums∞ and register. ------------(DONE)--------- Next, go to the USER CP - Login Server Accounts (Or Click Here)∞ page. Make a new login server account on that page.---------(DONE)---------- You should be all set. Well now i hope cuz ive beeen reinstalling the game 6 time now trying ......... Step 6 - Playing Run the game through the shortcut you created previously. SO this is the final step and well i do this i RUN the Freaking game trhough the shortcut ive made A shortcut of EQ.exe wich i have changed the Target for '"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme THEN what happen is a lil window apear it start to download some information wich i dont no what it is i guess it Get Ready the patching Window.... Then it ask me for account and password i US The one i Created in User cp BUT what i get is invalid account nam or password..... so Yeah i would really like to know what i do wrong pleas help me if u have an idea ......Thanks. |
if it looked like it was downloading ANYTHING, this means you were connected to soe server for at least a moment, and your installation effectively screwed up now. Re check the shortcut and eqhost file again, and reinstall the game
proper shortcut btw is "....\eqgame.exe patchme" there is no " between eqgame.exe and patchme |
ok think i found the problem but it is not solve .. when i Creat the shortcut and put this in EXACLY that way: "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme i Get an error when i click apply it says INVALID TARGET..... so then i try this way "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme" Note the lil " at the end ... and i still Get the invalid Target thing .... the only way i could make this command work WAS This "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme NOTE the space beween eqgame.exe" and patchme. But like you Said before THERE MUST BE NO " Beween exe and patchme so no its not working to me.... any idea what i must do then ? thanks...

you prabobly running something evil like WIndows Vista? It has a stupid format of preventing you to modify files, but I believe when you put patchme outside of quotes it simply ignored as part of the run line
make sure to set yourself into ADMIn mode also try without any " at all anywhere |
Well my friend from there i dont no what to do and i run windows xp... i am admin i tryed without quote at all and still not working
|
You need quotes around the path if the path contains spaces, otherwise you don't need them. Here is how it should look:

Yeah, from your example, this is exactly what you should be using:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme Code:
eqgame.exe patchme |
it may sound stupid but i fixed the problem using EQGAME.exe and not Everquest.exe - i was using Everquest.exe insteed of eqgame.... anyway thanks guys im set :)
