I'm getting ready to try EQemu
I live in a house with 4 networked computers, could go as high as 12 if my friends bring machines over.
I'd like to host a server and run EQemu. Is there any precautions I should take to not lose any of my EQlive data before starting to try and set up EQemu? Will a standard backup of the directory work? I can follow the install guide, I just didn't know what needed to be done as far as protecting your files. I'm reading everything I can find on this. I know some of the information is changing, si the readme file being kept up to date? |
All you really need to do is copy your present EQ directory over to another location and mess with things there. That way if something breaks from a patch you can still run it.

There's really no way you can harm your eqlive "data" (if you mean chars or accounts).. to keep from patching 10,000 times everytime you want to use EQEmu/eqlive, you should copy your entire EQ folder to another location (copy, not move).. I like keeping my EQEmu EverQuest folder in C:\EverQuest
As for the readme, the most updated readme can always be found at http://eqemu.sourceforge.net/shawn31...ts/readme.html I updated it regularly but for the most part, the steps are the same. |
no longer needed

Thanks for the information.
I'll set up something new entirely. I'm all that creative when it comes to this sort of thing. |
