Getting booted
Quote:
I am trying to play in someone's server before I try to create my own. After trying a lot, I managed to make a char in the heliacal.net dev server, and just got to log her on once. Every time I try to make a char, or log on the char that I made I get the "you have been disconnected" message. I am using windows 98 as OS, have cable connection. And I don't have a firewall. Any idea what this could be? It's strange that I managed to log on once but then never again :( Than you ~ Alyce ~ |

Try change your datarate to 10. It fixed my problem.
In your EverQuest directory, there's a DataRate.txt file. open it and change 5.0 to 10.0 save it then run Everquest. |
i'm having the same problem.
I tryed to look for the datarate file there isn't one in my eq directory as far as i can tell. Are u sure its called datarate.txt? cause i did a search on it just to make sure i wasn't missing it and it turned up nothing. thanks ahead of time for any info. |
I didnt have datarate.txt either, so I created one with a single line,
10.0 but it made no difference either way |
This may be the result of a faulty setup on their side, or a problem with your computer's DNS (Domain Name Resolution) if they're using a hostname (eg www.myserver.com) to listen on.
Possibly they've changed some settings recently which broke your ability to connect. Try connecting to another server to see if it's you or them. |
i figured out what was causing it. It was that i had a few compatibilty things on. Not sure if u guys have the same thing but make sure none of the compatibilty things are on if ur using xp.
long story why i had the on but i just got eq so i am a newbie to eq. It just dawn on me when i was heading to bed. |
