I have been getting this from the get go (soz, maybe this doesn't help your problem).
This issue is difficult to troubleshoot because there is no way of getting some kind of useful information about where or why your connection is being blocked. You can look in your log folder for a record (that probably won't say much, but there might be a clue) I have been trying to solve this issue for two weeks. It is possible your firewall or router settings are the block (it's easy to disable and test to rule these things out). I'm beginning to suspect my ISP for blocking/shaping my traffic so Everquest doesn't work. Although, in my case, I'm still trying to optimize my router, since it stealths all my ports (so perhaps EQ can't see my IP to send back server packets). Meh, those are my musings from a problem that has been driving me nuts. |
Does this happen to both of you no matter what server you try to play on?

this just started for me, ive been playing on the EQemu for almost 2 years now, im starting to wonder if i dont know what the problem could be, my comp was on a direct line ethernet for about 6 months until yesterday morning when i brought it home, my current wireless router was just bought due to a dog attack on my previous one im wondering if it isnt the router shutting me out of eq and it is every server. if it is my new router how would i go about working the problem out? please put simply im not computer illiterate but im no tech either

Happens on all servers.
I set up a DMZ, forwarded ports and disabled all firewalls. Quite confused as to what the blockage could be. |
i remember i had to setup a DMZ on my old router to get my xbox live to work so im guessing thats what it is but with the new router im not sure how to get into it to do that, id also prefer not to do that mainly because my whole network is run through that modem but if its what i need to do then so be it please leave tips on how to go about doing so thankyou

Im lost
So i switched my labtop from ethernet to wireless opened all my router ports and ports controlled by my ISP as well as setup a DMZ and i still cannot get past the character select screen please help i need my evercrack :)

Type in the IP address of your router. It should be something like 192.168.x.x although it might be something different. Look on the sticker underneath your router, and it will say what the IP address is.
Login to your router, with name = admin, pass = your pass. Once you are in look through the settings. First of all make sure you have UPnP setup because it helps with connectivity for online games. (Test to see if EQ works). At this point you'll want to set up a static IP (google it) If the problem remains, then the next step is to forward the specific ports EQ is using. These ports are (1024, 6000, 7000). Now, the tricky thing is that EQ can random use other ports. So its a good idea to find out which ports the server you're trying to connect to uses. You can find out the IP address of a server by doing a DNS lookup (some routers have this feature in a diagnostics tab, otherwise, look online). I found the ports of the server by looking in my dbg.txt in the Log folder of my EQ directory. It should be mentioned in the dbg.txt around about where your connection error occurs. To forward ports, you put in the port numbers and fill in the IP of your computer. The IP of your computer is selected by the router and will be similiar numbers to the router IP, like 192.168.0.x. You can find this IP on your router stats section, where is says what computers are attached to the router. If port forwarding doesn't work, then set up a DMZ on your router. Look in router settings for the tab. Select an IP for your DMZ. |
Sorry for double post. Thought i should mention the error in my dbg.txt when connecting, as follows:

This was while trying to connect to Project 1999 Server |
Is this a new problem? Have you been able to play before now? Is there a certain server you are on? Which client are you running? The more details the better. Have you read the FAQ in my sig?
EDIT: NM, just realized you are the same person from this thread. Stop making new threads for the same issue. Keep it to 1 thread. |
Apologies, i couldn't help chipping in when i saw someone with the same problem as me.

I wasn't referring to your posts, Jacobi, I was referring to this one:

Sorry just wanted to make sure i was gonna get as much help as i could, as far as the portforwarding goes i already have a DMZ set up, and its still a no go, my preferred server is EZ but i bounce around every now and again to check out the new ones, and ive been playing for about 2years now here is the whole story on how this happened.
I was using my labtop to play through a wireless access that my city provides(super slow) so i moved my comp to my folks where i was using a hardline, then i got a better wireless connection setup at my house so i moved my comp back and im not able to use EQ, i can still get on through the city wireless from time to time if i pick up the signal so i know its all in my router/modem |
You might want to open a ticket with your ISP and verify they aren't blocking any specific ports on their network. If they are blocking port 5998 and/or 5999, you won't be able to connect.

ok ill give em a call again but they claimed they had all ports open
