Server Specs
Hey,
So from everything I have read something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.638271 will be good for hosting a server fulltime. Maybe throw some more ram in it? Just trying to get a basic idea. Thanks, Sikkun |
Any idea how many people my I7-950 OC at 4ghz with 12gb of ram and a 30gb SSD running Debian could support?
(I think the best internet I can get is 20 down 4 up =( ) |
On a home cable line like that you could probably hold a stable 100 without noticing lag, assuming you aren't using the upload for anything else.
The hard drive will be a bit of a bottleneck, 30GB isn't much these days after all you need the OS, server, mysql database, perl, logs, etc. |
Hmm on my debian install with with everything installed im using 14ish/30gb virtual install. Will all that unused space help? I plan on doing nothing with the drive but host the server.

Should be enough however it might be good to keep in mind that the source, built components (quests, maps, etc.) take a couple of gigs, the database will grow as the server is played. Just make sure to watch it.
