no EQGAME.EXE file
 

So my latop died! I went out today and bought a new one with windows 8, old one had windows xp. Hold the laughing!

I used the same disks that I used to put EQ on my old laptop
Same steps went in modified eqhost now went to modify EQGAME.EXE and it doesn't exist, I tried opening it with wineq2 and it tells me...

Wineq2 can not find your game!
c:/use/public/sony online entertainment/installed games/everquest/EQGAME.EXE does not exist. please correct path.

I read through multiple forums and it said make sure it was installed correctly. I have reinstalled it, same issue. There is a EQgame application file but no exe files at all

It sounds like you have file extensions turned off. The application file is the exe.

I can see every other file extension, I tried to search by file type when I was unable to locate it the first time. I am going to try to download a torrent and reinstall the game that way. I am at a complete loss and no one I have talked to have any clue either. But thank you for the response I will ensure that the file extensions are indeed turned on.

IF this is happening to anyone else the fix is in the Anti-Virus. My AV was eating the file during installing. Disable during install.

your antivirus program is pure trash if doing that LOL. It will start destroying legit files why would you run such junk doing that anyway? Change to a noted good scanner that dont eat files as false positives.
