Windows 8 Error 1017
I can not get past error 1017 I have tried everything on every thread I would find. I am running windows eight, I am not the most computer smart guy in the world but here are my computer specs.
Processor: AMD FX9(tm)-9590 eight-core processor 4.75 GHz Installed Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB System Type 64-bit Operating System, x64 based processor Need more info just let tell me what I need to do and show it on here. I would like to get this fixed and at least make it into the game. I have made the needed changes to the eqhost.txt made a shortcut of the eqgame app in the folder changed the target adding patchme. I have tried running in compatibility for windows 95 up to windows 7 I use task manager to set affinity to 0. allowed ports on firewall I do not no what more to check. I even have a new router. I have also tried different resolutions. Any help would be amazing. Thank you all for taking the time to read this. |
Have you tried running it as Administrator?
|
Yes I have
|
That's weird, I run mine on Windows 8 just fine, would you mind screenshotting or posting what the error says?
|
It says
Error 1017: Cannot login to the everquest server. You may need to re-run the update patch this may also been seen as a loss of connectivity. This is usally tempary. Sorry for the poor spelling, and that code is going to be giving me nightmares for ever. |
i am having the same problem
how was this fixed?? I am having the same exact problem.. it seems after every single step I take to get closer to playing.. another problem comes up.. I am so close.. I just want to play..

Just started getting this error Wednesday evening after playing on emus for well over a year. Was happily playing when i went LD, checked my modem & router, everything was good so I tried to log back in, got Error 1017. Backed out and tried to restart my computer, Windows 8 started installing updates. Computer restarted, Windows configured updates and went to desktop, tried logging in, Error 1017. Tried a few more times, gave up for the night, next day everything was fine. Happened again Friday, and again just now. This time I immediately checked the server status, when I logged in, there were 37 players on my server according to the game launcher server list. After I got booted, I checked the eqemulator.org server list and it had dropped to 16 so maybe others are experiencing it, or maybe it's a coincidence. I will ask in OOC when I get back in.
I checked my eqhost file and eqgame.exe shortcut, everything is correct, I hadn't changed anything even remotely related to EQ in a long time. I'm considering reinstalling the game or rolling Windows back to last Tuesday just to test. |
Did you check if an update modified the firewall?
|
I had this issue a few times back when Vista first came out,and once on windows 7 anyhow I believe you have to delete your eqclient ini file or maybe a corrupted file/missing file if you unzipped/extracted anything to the folder and it went wrong delete and retry. Let me know Goodluck.
