Making a custom private server
Hi everyone,
I spent 5 or so years long ago playing on the Test server and a few on and off years on EMU servers and while i loved it I feel i missed out on many things the game had to offer. Specifically, seeing the high end raid zones/mobs. For years i have thought about just being able to walk around the zones killing everything in my path in order to scratch the itch I never was able to in my playing days. I no longer have the time in my life to multi box and progress on the servers that are currently set up. What i am looking for is a guide to setting up a server that will allow me to solo the high end content with relative ease. I want to see these zones, slay these mobs and move on once and for all. Does anyone have a guide for setting up this type of server they would share with me? Or point me to a server that is set up for this type of thing? Thank you for your time. Slayerofalot |
Can you use the search button. OR CLICK THE FIRST LINK UNDER WINDOWS SUPPORT.
You people get more and more stupid as the days go on. This generation is fubar. |
Unfortunately, there is not an up to date guide anymore, all of the current ones are outdated. Maze suggestion is the closest thing to a guide that you will get. Read it before proceeding as a lot of it is trial and error right now. I have a private custom server but have not documented the steps concise enough to post a guide yet.

slayerofalot,
I agree with werebat. It is trial in error due to incomplete information. The link that Mr. Grumpy pointed to is very good for compiling but you may need some assistance with the database. Post questions. I and others will be happy to share our personal experience. In fact, I built mine 2/15 after many years away. Werebat, my notes are too embarrassing to publish, also! :D |

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...rverSetupGuide I just used it on saturday. just read everything, dont take shortcuts, and dont be a noob :) |
It does not include the instructions for the new PEQDB daily dump method, those are different. If you use the guide as written then your DB is about a year old which may be perfectly fine for your needs, but if you want the latest you have to use the new db daily dump. Those instructions are elsewhere (Sticky on Database World Building Forum)

Thanks for all the info everyone. I will give it a try!
