AE's hitting the caster
sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but could not find anything on AE's landing on the casters.
Scenario: Mage casts an AE DD and in addition to the spell landing on mobs, it also hits the caster (happens with Mages and Wizzies). is there a way to prevent the AE's from hitting the caster? |
IIRC this is how it was on live if you were in the area of influence of some of the AE spells. I think there were some exceptions.
One obvious way to avoid this would be to cast the AE DD far enough away from the character so the character is not damaged. But, I don't think that is the answer you are looking for... Maybe you can give the caster a temporary immunity to the AE being cast. *shrug* |
There are multiple types of AE spells. Some can hit the caster, some don't.

Targetted ones (green normally) will indeed hit the caster.

this is actually 'good news' to hear; with responses here and feedback I have got from others, I was unaware "casters getting hit with their own AEs" was normal operation.
One less thing to worry about $ |
As previously mentioned any AOE that requires a target will also hit the caster.
Point Blank AOEs (centered on the caster) do not. |
