Useless Information
 

How about some of these threads with over 250 pages of useless information. Don't take this post the wrong way by all means. I love this community and have been around for some time and spend many hours sifting through useless information to find that one post that will help solve my issues. I am mostly talking about posts that date back to 2002 still showing up on in the main boards that are totally out dated, have no useful content or questions that have never been answered. The dozens of threads that all talk about the same issues. I understand this forum is for the community to gather and help each other and it consist of all volunteers giving their own time and efforts, for the most part a lot of these useless posts are by members that haven't even logged in for over 5 years. I admit I probably have some useless posts somewhere in the archives myself. To get to where I am going with this, is there anyone that is actively sifting through this useless content and getting rid of it or maybe combining or moving duplicate threads into one? Like I said I am in no way intending to be disrespectful or negative toward the community or the boards, just thought I would suggest some type of clean up of the boards here if at all possible. I would even volunteer in some way to partake in the cleanup. Thank for taking the time to read.

I get what you are saying and mostly agree. Although I have never used it, 'Advanced Search' allows your specify a time period for search results which may help somewhat. If you wanted to put time into contributing towards the wiki I am sure it would be welcomed/appreciated.

Something I have the most useful in digging around the forums is Google Advanced Search.
Its good for when you need to search for an exact phrase, as opposed to just one word
and coming up with thousands of results to sift through.
I just type a phrase in the google advanced "exact phrase" box, but I also go to the box
to include other words and enter eqemu. It's not 100% guaranteed success, but it seems
to be the most productive searching I have found yet.
Even though there is a lot of older outdated info in past threads here, there is little tidbits
that have been useful. The parts I would like to see cleaned up, (both past and present),
is all the individual posts that were "off topic" in a support related thread, especially when
somebody asked a question and replies were not even related to the topic.
I noticed some people will type out an entire paragraph with a negative response to the
question being asked, but in all reality, they could of typed the answer out in a few words.
But as with any forums or social media on the internet, it's an open door for people to
"vent" their frustrations (or personalities) with little to no moderating.
Rolling with the punches is an everyday norm, even on the internet. :)
